It has been a bit since I have updated you all on what is going on in the Ockerman world. The kids have started back to soccer so that means we have some sort of soccer either with practice or games 6 days a week. It takes a lot of our time, but the kids sure do love their teams and I see them progress in their skills week to week. Thankfully we have a little bit of a break this month with Spring Break and Easter at the end of the end of the month.
It has been about 6 weeks since my hubs left to start work in Ohio. The first few weeks we were so busy getting into the groove of school and soccer that things went fairly smoothly. Then I started my slow process of going through the piles and piles of stuff in our junk room and cabinets throughout the house. When you have lived in a house more than a few years, your kids get older, and have run several businesses, plus PTA and holidays, then you just seem to accumulate so much stuff. I have gone through a lot of it and the garage sale pile is growing. Most likely we won’t be in a house the same size as ours is now, so we need to pair down in every room. It is a long process since you know I still have regular life things to do still too. And now there is another pile of junk that I have to do something with until we can have a garage sale.
I have started to do some of the painting touch ups, getting things off the walls, patching holes, etc. But have a lot more left to do. I never got the trim work in the house done(upstairs hasn’t been touched), and I need to paint the kid’s rooms the same color as the rest of the house. There are things we just aren’t updating as we don’t have the money to do so, but paint is one thing we can do so I need to make sure that is done before we list the house for sale.
Life is getting a little more stressful as we get closer to listing the house. I want to make sure that we get the best sale price, but there is only so much I can physically do and do time wise. Hence why it is getting quieter on the blog here. Thankfully my kids will be at my in-laws house over Spring Break and I plan on becoming a painting fool until it is all done. I would like to have the house ready to list by the end of the month. That means I need to start doing some packing too as to reduce the amount of clutter in the house.
We will also need to start looking for a house to rent soon. We haven’t completely nailed down what area of town we are wanting to be in just yet, and it will all depend upon rental inventory. May to June is when we want to start renting so that we have a house ready for when the kids are done with school and we move all of our stuff.
Hubs gets to finally come home for two days next week. It will no be as long as we would like to see him, but glad we could make it happen at least once before we move. Money is still very tight right now so we can’t afford another flight until he comes down for the move. I am trying to stay as positive as possible as I don’t want the situation to overwhelm me. There are good and bad days of course. I am thankful for friends and family to call when I need them. And lots of activities to keep my mind from stressing too much. I welcome lots of prayers for strength and for our house to sell quickly.
I will try to come in and update when I can. I just don’t always have the time to just sit and write like I would like to. What is one tip that you can share to help me with selling our house and having it ready to show?
I went through every square inch and packed things we wouldn’t be using and I was brutal. I packed clothes, knicknacks, extra towels, garage stuff, etc. Not only does it clear out the clutter, it helps create the illusion that your house has plenty of space.
