I showed in my last post all the things you can do to start set up for a Painting Birthday Party. Buying supplies, setting up tables, making the cookies, and making rainbow jello. Today I will show you what other foods that I made and what else is left to prep.
Food:
That morning I worked on the tie dye cupcakes for the party. I used a pre-made mix that came with coloring, but it is simple enough to do on your own with supplies you probably already have on hand. This is an activity that your kids could help you with as far as making the specific colors.
To make Tie Dye Cupcakes: Mix a regular cake mix just like the directions call for. Or make a mix from scratch. Next divide the batter out evenly by how many colors you want the cupcakes to have. In each bowl you will need a few drops of food coloring. You can make it as light or as bold as you want. This is the fun part so that you can really make it completely unique. Next you will take one color at a time, spoon a little in to each muffin tin until all of the batter and colors have been used. Try to spoon the same amount in to each muffin tin so your cupcakes are a uniform size. I had some really cute multi-color cupcake liners that went along with the party theme.

I frosted the cupcakes in a simple white frosting then took one of the 6 compartment things of colored sugar and poured over the top of the cupcakes. No one cupcake was the same, but they were plenty colorful 🙂
We also went with a simple veggie tray with guacamole and ranch dip, as well as a mixed fruit bowl. Lots of colors and good for you! Pair that with some queso and turkey meatballs and there was just enough food for a light snacking afternoon party.
Set Up:
We had two tables that we covered with colored tablecloths that you can get just about anywhere for fairly cheap. I did put one of the floor over our hardwood just in case any of the kids were super messy. I set each spot with one canvas, cup, and a couple of paper towels. The paint and brushes I just scattered on the tables.
We then hung the sign on the wall over the tables, laid out the food, then waited for guests to arrive.
