This sure has been a busy weird Summer so far. We have had a LOT of rain here in Houston so that has left my kids pretty upset that we can’t go to the pool everyday like they want and truthfully need to do. They have a lot of energy and sitting around the house sure does not expend that energy and they wind up getting in trouble over and over again. I wanted to have crafts on hand just for those days when it is raining. So here is how to make the best of a rainy Summer day 🙂
Everything for this I was able to get from Walmart including the post super hero fun snacks of Tyson® Any’tizers® in the freezer section. My daughters favorite is the chicken fries while my hubs loves the boneless Honey BBQ Chicken wings! Ok enough about food for a minute. In the craft aisle there are so many choices on things to do with the kids that can take up lots of time.
The first thing I picked up was a stepping stone kit. The coolest thing about these is it makes 4 so each family member can make and personalize their own then you can lay them out in your garden. A note on these is that you don’t want to keep stirring it too long because it will start to set before you can add  beads if that is how you want to decorate it. They can be painted after they set. The package I bought only had one  tray so it is not just a one day project which could be good if it rains for several days.
Also in the craft aisle is tons of felt squares and pipe cleaners. My kids love playing super heroes so they have their own capes that are so cute. The felt is perfect for making your own super hero mask.
- First is to cut the felt in a strip. Since this is for little kids you can go across the short side making it about 3″ wide
- Hold the felt strip piece up to your kids face to mark where their eyes are and nose
- Cut out the eye holes making them just slightly larger than  you think they should be. Kids have some crazy long eyelashes
- Poke a hole in each of the sides of the mask so that you can thread the pipe clean through and twist the ends so that it doesn’t poke your kid
- Place the mask over your kids eyes and twist the other ends of the pipe cleaners to fit to your kids’ head
- Go off and be a super hero!!
I suggest you don’t be like me when you are poking the holes in the side of the mask and cut two of your fingers really deep and almost pass out in front of your kids. I am ok, but sporting some lovely kiddo Bandaids!! haha Too bad they are Fantastic Four Bandaids!
After all this crafting  a super hero must eat, so I busted out the Tyson Any’tizers Chicken Fries for my super hero girl. They are just like Mr Fantastic, my girl often takes them to make shapes out of them: Reed Richards is a scientific prodigy who has been quietly exploring the universe’s deepest mysteries in his garage, after school. After being transformed by one of his experiments, he can stretch his body into impossible forms and to incredible lengths. She donned her cape and other mask and put the one I made on her unicorn. Stuffed animals can be super heroes too! A bonus to buying the Tyson Any’tizers is that if you Buy two (2) bags of Tyson® AnyĘĽTizers® snacks at Walmart and get a ticket to see the new FANTASTIC FOUR movie in theaters. Look for for the specially marked packages that are ONLY available at Walmart.
3 Step Process to get you a FANTASTIC FOUR movie ticket:

We ended the rainy summer day with a movie marathon and some popcorn. There are times when you just need to snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie after a long day of being just like a super hero!
