My son, who turned 3 in March, has been pee potty trained for quite some time now. He can hold it for long periods of time and not have any accidents. We do still put a pull-up on him for naptime and night because he doesn’t wake if he has to go. The main problem we have is getting him to go poo in the potty. He knows when he has to go, but will go hide, then tell us right after that he has gone in his underwear. A few times, I have caught him in the middle of going and he has finished on the potty no problem. I just don’t understand why he won’t always go on the potty and not his underwear.
We have tried rewards, being nice about it, him getting in trouble for going, washing him in cold water, really everything that I can think of and nothing seems to help get him motivated to not go in his underwear. He understands the concept and repeats back to us what we say everytime of him being a big boy, but it is almost like he thinks it is funny to not do the right thing.
What suggestions do you have or advice that might work to help me motivate my son to be a “Big Boy”???? I am at a loss and so completely tired of washing out stinky underwear!!
