Time to Check for Expired Medicine

With the New Year comes time for changes and time to renew. Most people think about renewing their bodies, but one thing they need to renew is their medicine cabinet. Often we go get our kids headache medicine or go grab some Pepto-Bismol for upset tummies after over indulging in holiday treats, but how often do we check to make sure that they are not expired and still safe to use? I am guilty of not checking ours. This is the time to check for expired medicine.

Recently I was sent some Pepto-Bismol which came in very handy during the holidays and partaking in those delectable holiday treats. I was confident in knowing they were brand new and ready to use. Which got me to thinking about other medicine that I had in our bucket. Was it all ready to use and not expired? I don’t know. Now with the new year and trying new foods, the Pepto-Bismol will still come in handy when there are foods that don’t quite sit well.

So I went about checking all the labels, getting rid of ones that we no longer used or were expired and decided to do a little clean up and organization as well. We keep our medicine in our laundry room on a high shelf so that my kids can not reach it easily, but I was tired of seeing all the bottles. I picked up some cheap pop up boxes and just like that I was able to hide the medicine bottles and other random stuff so that our laundry room is tidy and it also keeps my kids from “looking” for the meds as well.

As you go about making your resolutions, and probably breaking a few of them already, take the time to check for expired medicine in your medicine arsenal and while you are at it pick up some Pepto-Bismol to ease those tummy issues that arise in either Pepto-Bismol liquid,  Pepto-Bismol Chewables, and Pepto-Bismol To-Go.

What a great reminder to check for expired medicines! It’s something I rarely think about – I think the last time we moved, I had found medicine and supplements that had been expired for a few years. Those pop up boxes are so cute! I love inexpensive but still adorable ways to organize.
