There seems like there are only so many ways to have toast, but really the possibilities and combos are endless. Creamy Pesto Toast is now a fave in our family thanks to Barilla Creamy Pesto in a jar. Think a little more outside that toast box and what you might be able to do with pre-made pesto to satisfy your hunger.

Start with a good sturdy bread like a sourdough or something nice a crusty that can hold the toppings. Butter and toast the bread until it is browned just right. Now we all know that everyone likes their bread toasted so differently. I like a light browning, maybe even creeping towards a medium browning. My hubs….he is one of those who practically likes it burnt…. I am not one of those!

While the toast is browning, you will also want to take some thinly sliced proscuitto or bacon and get it crispy. Now comes the part where you can take your toast so many different ways. Putting a base down of either goat cheese, cream cheese, or something similar will start this Creamy Pesto Toast on the right foot. You want a cheese with a little sour kick. Layer just a bit of that crispy proscuitto or bacon on top of the cheese. Oh yum!

Go ahead and get that jar of Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto open, dip your spoon in, and drizzle the creamy pesto over the toast. Use as little or as much as your heart desires. The taste is divine. My hubs brought home some balsamic glaze recently that is a nice pairing for this toast and adds another layer of flavor. If you have some fresh basil, add some chopped basil on top. Take it one step farther and bring a little sweetness with a light drizzle of honey.

This creamy pesto toast hits all of the marks of crunchy, sour, sweet, creamy, and so much more that is sure to be a fave in your house too. We sometimes even add an egg on top to go from a snack to a meal.

What would you make with the Barilla Creamy Genovese Pesto? You can quickly add it to pasta or on top of your morning breakfast. There are so many possibilities and uses. It also does not have to be heated prior to use! So start using it in your fave meals. Head over to Barilla.com for more inspiration.
