I still can’t believe that I just went to New York. I have always wanted to go, but never really thought I would or would like it. New York almost turned me in to a city girl!! My SIL and I flew in together from Houston and in waiting in line for a Taxi just happened to run in to a blogger that I had just met not that long before in Houston. Rachel of Surviving the Stores. We just happen to have flown on the same flight. We were not staying at the same hotel, but we thought it bests to all share a cab since she was by herself. Oh my goodness, my first cab experience… It wasn’t horrible, but the cab was kinds gross. I tried to focus on what was outside the windows instead of inside!
Once we made it to our hotel, the Courtyard Marriott on 30th between 6th and 7th (great location by the way for all the activities I was going to attend), I only had a few minutes to change and freshen up before heading to my first event in NYC, Getting Gorgeous put on the fabulous ladies Vera Sweeney and Audrey McClelland. We were able to walk from our hotel to the event so that was my first taste at city living. To say I was overwhelmed when I first walked in was an understatement. I “know” plenty of people online, but most I have never met face to face. It is great though when you do recognize people and are able to talk to them and discover what they are really like in person.
Getting Gorgeous was a fun event. There were makeup artist helping to freshen up everyone’s looks. One of my favorite brands Kevita was there sampling their probiotic drinks. My fave is one that I just had here at home the Lime Mojito. I was fitted for a bra from Bali and was surprised at the size the lady told me I should be wearing. I can’t wait until my sample one comes in and I can see how it fits. The star of the event was the sponsor Restylane Silk. Several ladies plumped their lips and upped their glamour game. If this event was how my NY trip was going to go, then I was off to a great start. Bonus is the goodies I was able to take away from the event including a precious stroller blanket from Stokke Baby that I was able to gift to a friend who just had a baby boy.
I then headed to the starting event for Blogger Back NYC. Delta Children, the maker of adorable children’s furniture, hosted those of us who had a VIP ticket to Blogger Bash. Their showroom was like a kiddie furniture candy store! Seriously why did I not know about them when my kids were babies? I fell in love with this grey and white nursery set. Gorgeous and classic.
They also had themed toddler arm chairs that even adults would want. I mean hello Chewbacca chair!
They then led us to their rooftop. This is what is missing from the suburbs. Stunning views. The Empire State Building only a couple of blocks away. Wow.
Thanks Delta Children for the amazing food and showing us your showroom. It makes me want to completely redo my kids room and gave me ideas for things I want to get my niece!
First day in NYC is done. It was time for some sleep and getting ready for a busy day at Blogger Bash.
