My kids just love to look at book and each night we read them one or two books before they go to bed. When they were babies, we mostly “read” books that had pictures and different things for them to look and feel. I loved the way their eyes would light up when they would discover a new texture or attempt to say what they saw on the page. I want my kids to grow up loving to read and wanting to always learn more. Little Man has now even memorized one of his books and “reads” it to daddy each night. It amazes me how much he comprehends and remembers.
Considered the original touch-and-feel book, pat the bunny was first introduced to children in 1940. Dorothy Kunhardt incorporated everyday activities like looking into a mirror, smelling flowers and feeling Daddy’s scratchy face to encourage interactivity and sensory stimulation. Today, pat the bunny continues to inspire togetherness and first memories between caregiver and child by introducing baby to new experiences like patting Bunny’s fur or putting a finger through Mummy’s ring.
I don’t remember if we actually had this book when I was younger, but I am excited to actually be able to get it for my kids. I hope that one day they will even be able to pass it down to their children. Pat the Bunny is available to purchase for around $9.99, but they have a new Deluxe Edition that has 4 restored pages added to it from the original 1940’s edition for around $14.99. What a cool way to bring back memories of the past and be sable to share them with my kids.
One of my readers will get a chance to win their very own Deluxe Edition of Pat the Bunny to add to their collection and share the memories of the book with their own kids 🙂 The giveaway is for US residents only. It will run until 5/19 at midnight. Good Luck and Happy Entering 🙂
