Well.. We did it. We made it through week one. There have been a lot of changes and a lot of learning this first week, but we made it.

If you didn’t see last week, I let everyone know that my husband and I were going to be starting Nutrisystem together for at least 4 months. We both have some weight to lose and are so excited that we will be doing this together. I have been slowly working on losing weight over the last year and have lost about 15 pounds, but I still have about 15 more or so to go. I have been in a bit of a stall for two months with no weight coming off and was more than excited to know I would be getting the help I needed with the food portion of my weight loss. I have been eating healthier, but I was at a loss as far as what exactly I should be eating portion wise and calorie wise.

Getting started on the program is definitely information overload when we first look at it all. Yes you get food for breakfast lunch, snack, dinner and dessert, but there are other foods that you have to add in like veggies, SmartCarbs and Powerfuels. Although I was eating healthier lately, I was really unsure of what balance of veggies, proteins, carbs, and fats that I should follow and to be honest I am not much of a veggie eater, well not as much as I should be.

In just a week, I have learned a lot about what to have,
when, and what sizes. There have been a few of the Nutrisystem foods that I haven’t like, but for the most part it is really good! I think some of my favorites have been the Chef Inspired Fresh Frozen Meals. One of the first days, I had one that was steak, spinach and Isreali couscous. Oh MY YUM!! The flavors were awesome. I gobbled it up! Also the whole wheat Ricotta crepes were delish. I added some spinach and mushrooms over the top to make it complete.

I wound up losing just at a pound (I think) this week. So I am at 146.2. My scale is a bit wonky, so I am not 100% sure I lost even that. Yesterday it told me only half pound, while this morning it said a full pound…. So I am going with 1 pound lost this week. I did have a few hiccups and a few times where I think I may have had more calories than I was supposed to. It is still a bit of a learning process, but I am excited to see how this all goes.

My goal for this next week is to stick to the plan more and learn how to balance the calorie count on my addins. I think I need to plan a little better what I am going to eat when instead of deciding last minute. Another obstacle to get over is seeing how I can cook veggies and such without using much oil and salt…

I have been doing pretty good on getting in my 8 full glasses of water each day. I am going to the bathroom tons, but I guess that is a good thing. I am looking forward to what this next week brings. I have done pretty well this last week with getting on the treadmill and hoping I can keep it up this next week. It is the TOM so all I really want is a big chocolate bar and to sleep all day, but going to push through 🙂

I will be back to update you next week and be looking for my hubby’s post with his first update.
