I was compensated for this post on behalf of Imperial Sugar, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have to say that I love holidays of any kind because it gives me more of an excuse to be in the kitchen baking away! But I am now on the lookout for fun recipes that my kids can help me out with. Imperial Sugar pointed me to their Halloween idea section with some yummy fun goodies. I decided to test out the Popcorn balls so that my kids could help me out.

To start, gather your ingredients of Popcorn(I used two bags), Corn Syrup, Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated, Butter, and Hard Candy.

The process is fairly simple:
Pop the Popcorn- Thanks Microwave for that help
Melt the Butter, Sugar, Corn Syrup
Place popcorn in a bowl with the hard candy then drizzle with melted sugar mixture
Let cool for a few minutes and from in to a ball.
You can find more detailed instructions and ingredients amounts on the Imperial Sugar Halloween page.

I separated the popcorn in two bowls so that I could test out different candies. I used the hard candies above that are Toy Story Aliens. They worked the best since they don’t melt easily. I also used some Starburst Candy Corn. They tasted yummy, but didn’t fair so well since they are pretty soft candies.

After the sugar mixture is cool, only takes a few minutes, this is the part where the kids can help out. I tried to get Little Miss to help me, but she didn’t want to get all sticky icky as she called it. You or your kids can grab a handful of the popcorn mixture and smash it together to form a yummy sticky fun popcorn ball.

Don’t they look so good just sitting there. You can make them as big or as small as you want. I would do them bigger if you want to hand them out as gifts or make smaller ones to have at your Halloween party.

These are seriously so easy to make and you can try out so many different candies!! Check out all the other Halloween Treat Ideas at Imperial Sugar. I have a few more that I have my eye on like the Candy Corn Fudge 🙂
