I was given the challenge to create a quick easy snack using Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips and Tone’s Chili Powder. Seriously, in less than 5 minutes(using a microwave) you can have Tyson Crispy Chicken with Zesty Chili Sauce to be able to serve your kids when they come home with the munchies.
Ever since school started my kids have been coming home so hungry!! I try to send enough food in their lunches, but especially little man has lunch so early that by 2 pm he is starving and scavages the pantry for food. I would like to say all of his food is healthy, but in all honesty it isn’t and he will just try and eat whatever is in sight.
I have been searching Pinterest and other blogs for quick and easy after school snacks ideas. As you can see by my snack board, I need some more recipes 🙂 My other problem is that individually wrapped snacks can also be so expensive. We are on a tight budget and food costs add up quickly.
One way that our family saves money when it comes to food is by shopping at places like Sam’s Club where you can get much more food for your money!! You save by not having to go to the grocery store quite as often and you save just on the cost of food in general.
What do you need to make this recipe?
Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips- 2-4
Sour Cream- 1 cup
Tone’s Chili Powder- 1 tsp.
Heat the Tyson chicken strips according to the package direction. They come out more crispy in the oven, but if you want them quick, simply heat in the microwave.
While the chicken is heating, mix 1 tsp. of Tone’s Chili Powder into the sour cream.
Place on a plate and enjoy. The kids can dip dip dip away.
To spruce it up just a bit for mom and dad for dinner. Add the juice of one lime to the Chili Sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste and use as a dressing for a salad. If it is too thick, add a little more lime juice. Top the salad with your favorite fixings(black beans, fresh corn, tomato, and shredded cheddar cheese) then add sliced Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips on top. You will have a quick and easy Southwestern Salad in no time.
The Zesty Chili Sauce was so simply and easy and good!!! It can be used for a dip for veggies as well. You could also heat it if you don’t like cold sauces with your hot chicken.
All of the ingredients I used in this recipe I was able to get at Sam’s Club. The price was great, I still have plenty left over for other dinners, and it was a one stop shop for most of my needs.
If you have a Sam’s Club near you, they are going to be doing some demos using ingredients that they sell right in their stores. It will be a great resource to find some new recipes to add to your menu. Call your store to find out the times of the demos in your area.
