Well after my very first half marathon last Saturday. I definitely took a few days off. Well…. more than a few days. Almost a week….
I was pretty sore Sunday and on in to Monday. But thankfully Tuesday my legs were feeling a lot better, but still had a bit of soreness left in my calves. I am still in shock of how well the half marathon went. So well that I have signed up to do another one on April 7th!
Back to last week, I wound up taking the whole week off from running. I should have not done that. But my stress was really high and I was just plain tired. So when I jumped on the treadmill to do my #Mamavation5k on Saturday, I felt like I was dragging around concrete blocks for my legs. I was out of breath so quick.. What happened to me?
Sunday and today, I went for runs outside 6.2 miles each day and still felt like I was dragging around lead filled legs. My energy was next to nothing and it was all I could do to get done. I am glad I pushed for the miles, but need to figure out why I have no energy.
I love my running and it helps my pain immensely so I need to keep going with it. No weight loss in a while, but that is hard to do when you are trying to keep your body fueled for long runs. I did use my Omron HRM for the first time today and it was interesting to see how high my heart rate got when I was running and trying to push myself faster. I can also see that trying to push too fast makes me tire faster and therefore not able to run the longer distances. I can’t wait to see how it helps me control my speed. I just need to figure out my stride since the monitor said I went over .5 mile less than my GPS said.
I am going to be tracking my heart rate over the next three weeks thanks to Omron Fitness and participate in a 5K Challenge with 24 other fabulous bloggers!! Stay tuned to see where my journey takes me. I am hoping for a PR on my time!!
