Unconditional Love and My New Running Buddy

Now that we have had our dog Cinder for just over 18 months I really can’t imagine not having her here. Sure she sheds, sure she barks loudly when anyone is at the door, sure she has torn up more toys than I can even count, but she is always happy to see us. She loves to snuggle and forgets that she is not a tiny puppy anymore. She loves to play and chew on bones. She doesn’t care that I didn’t bring her anything back from Disney World. She just cares that we give her love, feed her, and provide a home. In return she gives us unconditional love and is my new running buddy.

I am struggling to get sufficient training time in for preparation for upcoming races. Life is busy and most days I just don’t have enough energy to get it all done, plus take the time to get some exercise in. On the days when I don’t have a lot of time I have started to take Cinder with me for a short walk/run. She needs to get some of her energy out and I need the exercise. It is comforting having her with me. She doesn’t care that I don’t go very fast, in fact I think she prefers a leisurely walk so that she can stop and smell EVERYTHING!!

It is hilarious though when she gets tired she just finds a spot and plops down. No moving her!! I just have to laugh and try to be patient until she is ready to go again.

We both wind up getting some movement and time outside. I think she goes with me just so she can get a treat when we get back home. I stock up on them when I go to Sam’s Club.

Her favorite right now are the PEDIGREE® DENTASTIX®. It comes in a variety pack of 62. That calls for lots of walks. I am going to start getting her food there as well since they have the 55 lb. bags of PEDIGREE® Adult Dry Dog Food. A little hard for me to pick up, but worth it not having to go get food each week at the grocery store.
