I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Boys & Girls Club of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

My kids are my world. They bring me such joy and laughter. Sure they can also be stinkers, but I can’t imagine my life without them and I am so proud to be their mom and get to see them grow and change each year. It is my job as their mom to make sure I am nourishing the mind, body, and soul of my kids. There are many ways that I can do this and with a little extra help and guidance from the Boys & Girls Club of America Triple Play initiative, I have an extra resource of ideas of ways we can connect as a family and get moving and healthy.

I decided to tackle one activity in each of the portions of mind, body, and soul.

For Mind- It is a focus on eating foods that are healthy and balanced for our kids so as they are learning in school, they are nourished for optimal focus. I love the plates I have since they are sectioned out. One section gets fruit. one gets carrots, and the larger portion get a PB sandwich and a cheese stick. Foods that will help their bellies feel full and provide the nutrients they need to grow. We also played a little matching game while they ate which is always fun.

For Body- We played a balancing game. I set up colored tape on the floor in different distances so they could practice balance and quickness for how fast they could finish the obstacle. You can make it harder by having them only able to touch the spots on the ball of their feet or heels only.

For Soul- We did a bit of team building by blowing up a balloon and having them toss the balloon back and forth without it touching the ground as they go up and down the hall. It teaches them to rely on each other and take turns encouraging each other to get the balloon back and forth.

I love the idea of nourishing the mind, body, and soul of our kids and having fun with it. It is not something that needs to be forced, but rather enjoyed so that we can connect as a family. Download the BGCA Triple Play Parents Game Plan so that you and your family can learn ways to be healthy and active from head to toe! With so many of our kids today that are obese or overweight it is great to see projects like Triple Play that encourage out kids to be active. BGCA and their partners Coco-Cola and Amerigroup Foundation aim to to build the next generation of leaders, motivate kids to be healthy, and learn how to make fitness an everyday part of their life through education and resources. Go play and have fun with your kids!
