Well, it’s been another couple of crazy weeks here at the house.  We’re managing to get things done, slow as it seems at times, but it’s starting to feel like our home.  Back in the groove with the diet as well!  Why does it seem that when we’re stressed out, we look to food to soothe our nerves?  My battle these past couple of weeks has been staying true to the plan.  I get busy, forget to eat, then head to the fridge to see what’s in there (even though I know exactly what’s in there).
I gotta say, the good thing about doing this with my wife is that there really aren’t many things in our fridge, or house for that matter, that aren’t good to eat.  Now for snacks my go – to food seems to be grapes.  Red, green, doesn’t matter what color, I fill up a measuring cup of those bad boys and go to town.  As far back as 3 or 4 months ago that would’ve been peanut butter and crackers or some potato chips.  I’ve been exposed to a lot of good foods since starting on this, I mean seriously, I would’ve bet the house against eating a Kale chip, hummus, or grapes as a snack.
I haven’t lived up to my end of the deal as far as getting back into working out.  That’s something I seriously need to work on, for sure.  One good thing I have learned is that just sticking to the diet can help me lose weight.  I’m now down to 228, which is a total of 18.6 pounds since starting Nutrisystem.  My goal weight still hasn’t changed, and I won’t be getting there as fast as I wanted to, but I’m learning how to keep the weight off!!  Losing weight has never been my biggest challenge, eating properly and exercising consistently is what’s been missing.
I’m only waiting a week to write my next post, because I am now a man on a different mission.  I’m challenging myself to lose 4 pounds by next Sunday.  That would mean over a 20 pound total loss in about 3 months, and 4 pounds would be my biggest loss for a week so far.  Discipline is the only way to get there, so let’s see how much of it I’ve got.  Until next week….
