I am a sucker for a good race medal, so that is why I signed up for the Run Houston- Minute Maid 10K. I thought at first that we might actually get to run some in the stadium, but unfortunately it was just running on the streets around the stadium. The morning started out really foggy, but thankfully the rain held off until the race was over. It wasn’t my best race since it was a double loop course that went up and down bridges through Downtown Houston but I finished and got a cool medal! All the while I was glad to be driving the 2015 Lexus RX 350.
This vehicle just embodies luxury and style. We have been a Toyota family for many years so being in a Lexus felt like a warm hug. You can see the quality just by the interior feel of the black leather seats. And I am a sucker for a heated/cooled seat especially after finishing a race and your muscles start to tighten up. Don’t worry I put a towel on the seat before I got in so that I didn’t get it all sweaty. Downtown Houston can be a bit confusing to get out of and back on the freeway. The Lexus RX 350 navigation system worked hard getting me around the road closures for the race and back on the road home. I liked the way the inside of the vehicle was laid out. The center console is higher so that if you want to rest your arm then it is at the perfect height and you aren’t leaning over. This also makes it easier to use the toggle for the navigation screen. There is a clever little open storage area to the front bottom of the center console that was perfect to put my bag with essential oils in besides having it roll around on the floor. The Lexus RX 350 is a push button start. I am beginning to love this feature. Another great feature is that when you walk up to the vehicle and no matter where the key fob is on you, the door will automatically unlock when you pull on the door handle. So if you arms are full and you aren’t quite sure where the key is in your mess of a purse, you don’t have to worry about digging for it. This was nice for when I was running up to the car in the rain. To help keep your eyes on the road, this SUV offers Heads Up Display. Very very cool to see what speed you are going, gear you are in, and also turn by turn navigation without having to veer your eyes off the road.
So how did the V6 engine handle? Just like you would expect from a Lexus. Smooth, responsive, and with just the right amount of power. This is one dreamy vehicle.
My kids were in love with the sunroof of course and the in seat DVD screens. The sound for the movies can be played in the whole car or the kids can use wireless or wired headphones. We chose for them to use headphones… because mommy can only listen to Frozen so many times! There was a decent amount of storage in the trunk portion since it is only a 5 seat vehicle. I was able to fit only two car seats across the second row though so it would only hold 5 people if you didn’t need car seats for any of them. One little feature I wasn’t a fan of was when I would turn off the vehicle, my seat and the steering wheel would push back. Now this is great to give you some extra room to get out and it would go back to the last known spot when the vehicle was turned on, but when you have kids in the seat behind you they sure don’t like being squished.
The Lexus RX 350 fit pretty well into our family and even enjoyed a spa day with our Toyota van 🙂 With Lexus you are getting quality, dependability, and a vehicle you will be proud to drive.
