We were treated to a two day staycation at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in exchange for this post. If you need a getaway from Houston, but don’t want to travel far… then read on!!
Here you are wanting one more little getaway before summer is over…or wanting to getaway for just the weekend or a couple of days in the middle of the school year, but you don’t want to travel very far so that you can optimize the time you have to go somewhere. The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center located not far from the Woodlands Mall north of Houston could just be the answer you are looking for in your quest.
Right now they are undergoing a massive renovation that when all is said and done this fall will make this property a destination that you will want to visit over and over again.
As your first drive in to the complex, you really feel as though you are escaping the city through the winding road and forest of trees that open up to unveil gorgeous new buildings and amenities. As I said right now they are undergoing construction with the addition of 184 guest rooms and suites. They will also be redoing the existing guest rooms.
We were really impressed with the look of the new building structures. The stone facades are rich and warm and welcoming. Walking in to the Fairway Pines building was a wall of vertical plantings that I would love to replicate at my own house. You are then greeted with the amazing Forest Oasis Waterscape. My kids sure wanted to run right in, but of course we needed to go up to our room to change. The rooms are luxurious and large. Our family of four had plenty of space to move around in the Double Queen room and the bathroom… ahhhh.. I could spend all day in the bathroom.
After changing we headed down to the pools. The main area has a beach walk in access that is perfect for young kids to play or those who want to soak up the sun while in the water. This area also had two huge slides that my son spent most of his time on. And let me tell you there is plenty there in just that area to wear your kids out!!
But the best water feature that just opened at the Woodland Resort is the 900 ft. lazy river. This momma sure loves to get on a float and just ride. The sides of the river are beautifully landscaped so you feel as though you are drifting through nature. There is also one more smaller tube slide here that my daughter would actually do and was tall enough to go on.
Oh and don’t think I forgot about the food. You don’t even have to leave poolside to have some lunch or dinner and even some drinks from the Cool Water Cafe. They will serve you at your lounge chair or they have tables right next to the Cafe. The Woodlands Dining Room is also open or you can order room service. This fall they will be opening a 120 seat Texas steak restaurant where you can even host events.
I was treated to a spa massage service while I was there and it was the most relaxing and calming hour at the resort. The massage therapist I had worked her magic on my stress knots. I really could use that about once a week and I want their recipe for the fruit infused water that helped clear the toxins from my body.
We enjoyed our stay and the kids had a blast playing in the water all day and night long. We also loved that they have events planned by the water all throughout the day. The favorite was by far the s’more making!! They also have nightly Dive-In movies where you can swim and watch a movie. Perfect for the kids to wind down for the evening.
They have plenty for grownups to do as well if you want a getaway for a girls weekend or couples retreat. Golf, tennis, billiards, and other activities just waiting for you. It also boasts a 60,000 sq ft conference space for your company retreats or meetings.
I can’t wait to see the final changes when the construction is finished.
Thanks again to The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center or having us out. If you are looking for a staycation or even a vacation, then check out this resort. There is plenty nearby to do as well if you ever want to leave poolside.
Great post – we will have to take a long weekend there!
