I’d like to thank April for letting me guest post at her blog. Today, I’m going to interview Camille Chandler, the heroine from my contemporary romance The Marriage Bargain.
SE: Welcome, Camille. Thanks for dropping by. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
CC: I was abandoned by both my parents as a baby. I’ve never met my father and I have no memories of my mother. I was raised by my grandmother, Granny Mae, and she made sure I was instilled with a set of good, old-fashioned scruples. She didn’t have much money though, so when I went to college I had to take out all kinds of student loans.
SE: Sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate for someone so young.
CC: I guess so, but I feel like I’m in a really good place right now. Since graduating from college I landed a one-year internship at the fabulous Disclosure Magazine in L.A. I’m just on the ground floor, basically a gopher, but I love learning the business from the ground up.
SE: Sounds like those student loans were worth it?
CC: Yeah, the student loan thing is kind of scary, but I don’t regret it. I think my internship at Disclosure has gone well, and now that it’s almost up, I’m hoping to land a full-time job with the magazine and not have any down time looking for a job since I’m about to start getting billed for all those student loans.
SE: What’s your dream job? Something in publishing?
CC: Oh, I’d love to one-day have my own column. Or report on the rich and famous. I find Disclosure’s entertainment division fascinating.
SE: Working at Disclosure must be fun, exciting? All those celebrities.
CC: Oh, it is.
SE: So being offered a full-time position at the magazine would not only be convenient because of the student loans, but it’s kind of like the next step on your career path to your dream job?
CC: Definitely. I want to work full-time at Disclosure so badly I can taste it.
SE: What do you think your chances are? You seem pretty confident that a job offer will be made.
CC: I’ll let you in on a secret. I just landed my first real assignment. My boss Margo Fontaine found out that this really rich guy from France has placed an ad in the L.A. Trades. I’m supposed to find out why.
SE:  The L.A. Trades…he’s looking for an actress?
CC: Yeah, weird, huh?
SE: Pretending to be an actress sounds like an easy enough task.
CC: Exactly. So all I’ve got to do is answer his ad and find out what he wants. That’ll make my boss happy. And then I’ll be happy when she offers me that job!
SE: Sounds like the perfect assignment to put you on the right path to your chosen career.
CC: Yes, and today’s the day. I’m off to meet Mr. Julian de Laurent to find out why he’s looking for an actress in L.A.!

On my next “guest post” on the tour, I’ll be interviewing Andre de Laurent (Julian’s younger brother…and hero of the upcoming book The Marriage Caper).
