This will be more of probably a rambling post more than about any particular topic. I think I needed one of these to just let the words flow and not be about any particular subject or sponsored in any way. This really has been a crazy busy summer. I thought we would be at the pool everyday. I would be able to get a lot of writing done and really start boosting this blog more to become a business, even if a small one. I thought I would be able to study and take my personal training certification by now.
In reality, I traveled a lot which was awesome. San Francisco, San Antonio, New York, Austin, and locally. The travel part of my summer was the best, but also utterly exhausting. I did my best to work while I was traveling, but it is not easy! Kudos to those bloggers who travel constantly and have the stamina to work on top of it. I think because I am fairly introverted that while I travel the networking and learning and soaking in info wears me out. After New York though I realized that I do love to travel. I do love discovering new places and meeting new people. I have made some amazing connections and new blogger friends this summer. I have also met some amazing new companies and PR agencies that I hope bloom in to work relationships that will span the years.
Blogging is not easy work. It does take a lot of hours to do what we do. Brainstorming, buying products, executing our vision, editing photos, writing the post, then bringing it all together. Then there is the social media part of blogging. I am not always the best at that. With my kids home, I get distracted by cleaning, finding things for them to do, cleaning, and I will admit watching tv. I know I don’t promote my blog posts enough. I am trying. I have joined lots of online groups to help share each others content, but that does get to be too time consuming as well.
This summer has been one of learning and growing with my blog. Most of my posts have been sponsored ones and I am ok with that. I haven’t been able to write as many personal ones, but I will get there. I have improved my picture game with a new camera though I do still need to learn how to tweak the settings. I have made new contacts by going to blogging conferences. I am learning how to write posts that weave a story throughout them versus just being product reviews. I have started earning a little money to help support my family. I am learning, slowly, but learning. I vow to myself to be better organized, to be more consistent, to have more posts that are truly my own. I didn’t like English much when I was in school so it is funny that now what I do is write and write a lot. I guess the beauty of a blog though and that it is mine is that I can write in my own words and I don’t necessarily have to be grammatically correct all the time. I can write how the words flow from my brain.
I think my kids have still had a fun summer. They have had pool time. They have been on vacation. They have spent time with their grandparents. They haven’t had enough friend time, but that was hard to schedule with me being gone so much. I love my kids and I do what I do for them.
So we have three weeks left until school starts. I will be watching my friends girls during that time so we won’t be able to go anywhere during the days, but I hope I can make it lots of fun for them. We have some new toys and games to discover. We have some balloon fights that still need to happen. I want to fit in one more small trip to San Antonio. I hope to make the best of these last three weeks of Summer.
Thanks for letting me ramble here. You will probably see more of these soon. I want you to see more of me, learn about me, hear my thoughts of everyday life. 🙂
