If you read a couple of weeks ago, I was heading to New Orleans for a press trip for the Lexus RC and RC F. Read the blog post to learn more about the car. But for now I wanted to tell you a bit about my trip, because it sure was one to remember.

My flight was supposed to be leaving at around 10:30 in the morning so I got to the airport at about 9:30. Thankfully I shoved all of my clothes and stuff into a carry on bag because 1) I didn’t want to pay to check it and 2) With how the day ended up going, no telling where my luggage would have ended up! As I was waiting for the flight, we get word first that our plane is a bit late. And the rain starts…Now if it had been on time then this day would have gone much smoother, but this started a downward spiral of waiting and waiting and waiting.
We are finally allowed to board our plane about an hour late. We never pull out of the gate because by now the rain was pouring so they couldn’t let us even pull out since there were a lot of planes ahead of us waiting to take off. Time passes and we keep hearing that maybe soon we will go… They eventually open the doors for people to get food. This was my first mistake of the day because I didn’t get off thinking that it would just be a few minutes until we leave since the rain was letting up. After 2 1/2 hours of waiting on the plane, they tell us to deboard and go find another flight.

Most people went to customer service, but I went back to the gate attendant where we just were and was able to get a seat on a flight that was to leave another hour later. So I go get a little lunch, but didn’t eat much because it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. As I wait for the next flight the time starts to get pushed back slowly. Eventually we board about an hour later than that flight was to leave. Yay! We finally take off….
It was to be a fairly quick flight, but I started to notice that we were past our landing time. The pilot eventually comes on and says we are circling around Lafayette because the weather we had in Houston moved its way to Louisiana… great…So after 30 minutes of circling we land in Lafyatte, but they don’t take us to a gate… We wait…..on a side runway….for another 1 1/2 hours….So my day at the Houston airport started at 9:30 am… I didn’t make it to my hotel in New Orleans until 9:30 pm.
Needless to say I missed a whole day of being able to go out and discover more of New Orleans. Instead of being the first to arrive at the press trip, I was almost the last. I missed the first evenings events and presentations…
But I still have to share where we went the next day which made up for 12 hours of travelling..
To be continued….
What I like about your posts is that one can “see” and “experience” what you see and experience.
I feel so bad for you. That sounds like a horrible experience. Sorry you missed the first part of your trip. I can’t wait to see your next post.
It was a long day, but no point in getting mad or upset at the weather 🙂 Better communication would have been nice on the part of the airline though.
