I was sent 505 Southwestern Sauces to help kick up my taste buds in this review, but all thoughts are my own.
I am one of those people that gets stuck in the same menu rut for long periods of a time. I don’t always know how to be adventurous with different flavors and spices. Because after all, I don’t want to wind up ruining dinner. So after 505 Southwestern sent me some of their sauces and salsas to test out, I headed in to the kitchen to see what I could make.
On one of those I don’t know what to make nights, I looked in my fridge to see what I could throw together. I had some ground turkey, onions, corn tortillas, and the 505 Southwestern Enchilada and Tamale Sauce. I wanted to make an enchilada casserole of sorts, so this is how my Turkey Enchilada Casserole came to be.
I got to cooking.. Chopped the onions and started to caramelize them in a pan. Added in the ground turkey with a little salt and pepper until it was cooked through. Now the best part… I started with some of the enchilada sauce on the bottom of a cooking dish. I used a pie pan only because it was the first one I saw 🙂 Tore up some tortillas and placed over the sauce, sprinkled on some of the turkey mixture, a handful of shredded cheddar and repeated for a couple of layers. I do love easy recipes!
I am not one to try to roll my enchiladas because most of the time they wind up breaking all apart anyways so I might as well just layer it and it sure makes it easier to scoop out of the pan. I then popped it in the oven, I think 375 degrees for around 30 minutes. Really just so everything heated through and the cheese on top was bubbly and browned. Hubby and I both agreed that it was so good and I liked that it was so easy to make. Best part is that it was completely gluten free!!
So here is a general “recipe”:
1 lb ground turkey
1 medium onion
20 small corn tortillas
2 cups shredded cheddar
505 Southwestern Sauce- Enchilada and Tamale
You could definitely add afew more ingredients to make it a more complete meal or more hearty casserole- corn, black beans, spinach to name a few.
I still have a few more of their sauces to test, but I will tell you that their Chipotle Honey Roasted Green Chile Salsa was sooooo yummy on a smoked brisket that my husband cooked. It had a great balance of sweet with a spicy kick without leaving you sweating from the heat.
See what other fabulous products they make in their chile line up and follow them on Facebook for recipes and tips. Oh and go find them in store at HEB or Safeway. What will you make it?
This looks so delicious! I may have to try this with my family. I'm like you i get stuck in a rut but I'm always searching for new recipes.
