Lots of us have it in our heads that the Buick brand is just for the older generation. Let me tell you that with the addition of the 2016 Buick Cascada that you will have the same reaction as me.. That’s a Buick??? It is a Buick done so well that my whole family was able to enjoy some top down fun. Yep you heard that right, it is a convertible. Be still my heart 🙂

I had seen pictures online, but had yet to see this beauty in person. I have secretly wanted a convertible for a very long time. I mean it is Texas and the sun shines a lot, so who wouldn’t want to drive around with the top down and wind flowing through your hair. The problem is that most convertibles are only two seaters. That doesn’t work for my family of four, so I figured that ever owning a convertible would have to wait until my kids were older or until we could afford the more expensive versions.

Now I will say that though it does seat 4, it was rather tight as far as leg room. For my kids to be able to get in and out of the back easier, I did have to drive up closer than I would prefer to in most vehicles. My kids have car seats and boosters so they need more legroom since their legs hang differently than they would if they were sitting without them. I did climb in the back and was surprised just how well I did fit. The back seats have a slope so that you sit on a different angle to make up for the lack of legroom. I didn’t think I would fit.

The coolest feature of the Buick Cascada has to be the convertible top for sure. With just a push or pull of the lever, the top can go down or up in a matter off seconds… 15 seconds in fact. You can even be driving up to 50 miles an hour and close the top. Now I didn’t test that feature out because hello I didn’t want to be that person that ruined it just in case.. haha But it is a great feature for when like this week in Texas it keep raining off and on.

The trunk/cargo space leaves much to be desired since the top folds down and encroaches on the trunk space. If you are creative you can fit some things under the box in the trunk. There was only enough space for one of my Thirty-One bags and a backpack in the “open” area. I had to get creative with taking our gear to soccer.

There was some speed under the hood of the Buick Cascada and it was a blast to drive. It would hug turns like nobodies business and just wanted to be out on the open road. My kids weren’t exactly thrilled with being on the freeway with the top down, but mommy sure did. It was a little loud, but if it is just people in the front seat the Cascada has a screen you can put over the back seats to help with the wind.

Looking for a fun, but still family functional vehicle then I can’t recommend the 2016 Buick Cascada enough. Don’t expect to go on long trip in it with lots of luggage, but it could work even for an everyday vehicle getting around town. Hey mommy’s play vehicle!!
