As I have been preparing for the upcoming Chevron Houston Marathon, I signed up for a warm up race series which included a half marathon, 25K, and 30K. I had not run anything longer than a half so far so this series would push me to see if I was even remotely ready for the full marathon. The Fort Bend Kia 30K was going to be on the same weekend that I was going to test drive the 2016 Kia Optima SX Turbo. Let me just say that this vehicle will inspire anyone to want to get out and run even a 30K!
After driving several other Kia vehicles I was excited to finally get into a car to see how it stacked up to the other ones. It did not disappoint at all especially with that 2.0 L 4-cyl turbo engine that just begged to go have a little fun (within reason of course). I mean after all I am a mom and most of the time the kids were with me, but when I headed down to the race that was over an hour from my house it was nice to be able to get there a little faster and with greater pep that was almost like a pep talk for me to complete this length of race.
The race was tough and I was ready to give up by mile 6 thanks to a cold front pushing in and pouring down rain, but somehow I managed to complete all 18.6 miles. I think in the back of my mind I just kept remembering how I had heated seats and steering wheel waiting for me in the parking garage! The ride home it was pouring down rain which the Kia Optima SX handled well and made me feel safe. It was raining so hard we were at a crawl the whole way home.
The features in this vehicle were exactly what I would want with navigation, red leather, heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, harman/kardon speaker system, and more. There was so much space in this car. The kids had plenty of legroom, I had plenty of legroom, and the trunk space was amazing!! One of my favorite features when it comes to the kids are the lower anchors for their carseats. Many cars only have the upper latch system, but I prefer the lower ones. The panoramic roof was of course a family fave even though it rained most of the time that I had this vehicle. Seriously I think there is some kind of weird joojoo that whenever I have a press vehicle, it rains at least one day.
The 2016 Kia Optima SX Turbo was a dreamy car. It almost felt like a luxury vehicle with the power that I want in a vehicle, the features to make it comfortable, and it was one that fit us as a family of four and all we do. Almost makes me want to go run another 30K!! Almost 🙂
