Let me preface this, blogging in and of itself isn’t exactly dangerous. Most of the time, I am sitting down typing on my laptop while my kids are napping. So for the most part blogging isn’t all “dangerous”, but it can have its hazards at times.
Since I have started blogging, I now have problems with my wrists and sometimes my legs or other parts fall asleep if I sit for too long without moving around. Occasionally I miss meals or snacks if I have a busy day of writing. But one day, blogging became dangerous for me π
Little Miss was already down for her nap and I had put Little Man down for his nap so I decided to start working a bit. I mostly work on my laptop since I have it out in the Living Room and can watch the kids and work if I need to. The cord to my laptop is pretty long and occasionally it gets caught or the kids trip over it while running around. Well this day, Little Man was not wanting to go to sleep for nap and was yelling under his door. I put my laptop down and ran towards the back of the house quickly so I could get to him before he woke up Little Miss. Well, that long cord wrapped itself around my big toe on my right food and pulled it back sharply as I was going forward. Oh MAN!! That Hurt!!
My poor toe. Seriously needed to repaint my toenails!! |
I went in the room and laid down with Little Man until he fell asleep. The whole time my toe was throbbing. I wasn’t sure what I did to it exactly. but it hurt!! Throughout the rest of that day, my toe hurt more and more and started bruising!! When I woke the next morning my toe was really bruised, swollen and I could not put any pressure on it. All from a silly computer cord!! I thought I might have broken it, because I could not move it without getting really nauseous, but I decided not to go to the doctor just yet. After all, mommies don’t have time to be sick or hurt. Last week I was all of that!! Sick with a cold on top of my allergies and with a bruised and swollen toe.
This all happened on a Sunday and by Thursday it still hurt pretty bad so I decided to go to the doctor to see if it was broken. Well, I spent $200 to find out it wasn’t broken….. By Saturday I could start to walk a little more normally. Now at almost 2 weeks later, my toe is still bruised and I can’t quite walk all the way normally or put full pressure on it and movement. I wore some ballet flats last night to a blogger meeting and about died because it was pressing on my toe. I guess flip flops really are my friend π I rarely wear anything besides flip flops!!
Blogging probably isn’t really dangerous, I think kids are more of the hazard!! Blogging can start to hurt if you sit for too long at the computer though. Moral of the story is to pay attention a little more and make sure all objects are out of your way before running anywhere!! I am just glad that my toe is getting back to a more normal size and color, albeit very slowly. I am ready to get back to walking on my treadmill and not walking with a limp.
Oh yes, it sure can be hazardous and dangerous to your if you don't take breaks. I did break one of those flash drives – moved too quickly. Hope you toe is feeling better π
