Ah school…Back to routine, back to homework, back to mommy having some time to herself! One last weekend before school started called for one last adventure and getaway. So we packed up the Kia Soul and headed out to Seaworld in San Antonio. Our favorite hotel that is across the street was having a deal on discounted room rates so we might as well enjoy the last minutes of summer. I will admit that I am happy to be able to get some of my time back and focus on work more, but I wasn’t ready for no more sleeping in. The Kia Soul brightened that mood with its Inferno Red exterior.
Since we were only going for two days then we were able to pack fairly light for our trip. The cargo space on the Kia Soul is fairly compact, but was just perfect for this road trip. I was able to put 4 peoples worth of bags and stuffed animals all in the back. The kids had plenty of leg room since this vehicle is taller on the inside then it appears on the outside. The kids settled in with their iPads and snacks and off we went.
The interior of this Kia Soul was comfortable and stylish. I am sure the hamsters would approve especially of the panoramic roof. The black leather with heated and cooled front seats are always a plus. Though occasionally the cooling feature didn’t work as well as I would have liked when the temps broke 100+. The heated steering wheel was another great feature. When you have someone like me who has joint issues the heated steering wheel helped ease some tension in my hands while on the long drive.
I guess my only complaint is I wish the engine had more power. The 4 cylinder could have used a bit of turbo boost. Trying to pass 18 wheelers with an engine that isn’t strong enough was quite an experience. The gas mileage ran at an average of 26-28 mpg since we were mostly driving highway.
The kids loved being able to have the Kia Soul for their last summer vacation and the first week of school. We rode back to school in style. The Kia Soul has tons of great features and fully loaded was just under $29K. The Kia Soul really does bring in the soul and heart of what makes cars fun.
