This summer I have found a renewed sense of loving exercise again. I have been going on daily walks between 3-5 miles, usually averaging around 4. In our collaboration with Warner Bros. this week for camp we are watching the movie, Alex & Me. As you all know we are big soccer fans in this house so this is right up our alley. I love seeing my kids play and this movie is one that can help inspire any young athlete.
For this week’s camp activity, we were challenged with setting goals and keeping track of them. In Alex & Me, Reagan (played by Siena Agudong (“Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn,” and “ Star Falls”) uses a chart to keep track of her daily soccer drills as she progress towards her goals. This week at camp, we want to inspire our campers to follow their dreams and keep track of their personal goals with their Alex & Me Goal Chart – a great tool to motivate kids to strive to be their best. I printed out the goal tracker and laminated it so that we can use it over and over again. We posted it on the wall near our family calendar as a reminder to the kids to work each day on their goals. We started with daily hygeine goals. Summer slacking is in full affect and my kids have to be reminded daily to brush teeth. So we used the daily goal tracker for a visual reminder for the kids. By laminating the tracker, the kids can change their goals each week whether they want it to be a personal goal, soccer goal, or school goal. We may have to print out more to help them keep track of all kind of goals.
We were also challenged to to the Alex & Me workout. I filled up my camp tumbler and keep my camp towel close because…sweat. Alex & Me Family Workout.
Please always use caution when exercising, and listen to your body. If something doesn’t feel right – don’t do it! Daily exercise improves health, can reduce anxiety, and increases self-confidence – and working together to get through this list as a team will make the whole family feel great!
About Alex & Me:
Teenager Reagan Willis has one dream – to play soccer like her hero, Alex Morgan. Her bedroom is a shrine to all things Alex, including a life-size poster of the Olympic gold medalist. Yet in the Willis house, Reagan lives in the shadow of her prep football superstar brother, Logan. When Reagan fails to make the cut of the premiere local soccer club team and is humiliated by her rival Claire, she’s certain her ship has sailed. But after accidentally hitting her head, Reagan’s poster of Alex Morgan suddenly comes to life and everything changes!
