Thanks Disney for the invite to the press screening of Cinderella. Below is my Cinderella Movie Review. I hope you enjoy 🙂

I have always been a fan of Cinderella..well just about any princess movies. It is so fun to be able to share the same movies I grew up watching with my kids and see parts that you don’t remember happening before. I love that Disney is taking those classic cartoon movies and turning them in to live action movies. It gives you a whole new fresh look at the movie and how more facial expressions and ad lib can bring a whole new light to a movie.

I took my daughter to a press screening of the new Cinderella. To be honest I wanted to go more than she probably did 🙂 I was a huge fan of Malificent so I was wondering how Disney would spin Cinderella and bring her story to life.

Before the movie started they played the new Frozen Fever. It was ADORABLE!! Elsa gets sick and sneezes out the most darling little mini snowmen that are just precious. They almost ruin the surprises that Elsa has planned for Anna’s birthday, but all turns out great in the end. I want one of those little snowmen!!

Here is some info on the movie:

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

My thought over and over again throughout the movie was just one of awe over the magnificent gowns and costumes that were present on every character and even background characters throughout the movie. I mean how much fun would it be to get all dressed up as they were and not feel like a princess??!! The movie follows the classic story fairly spot on with just the right touches of humor here and there. I love that Disney didn’t make it too dark of a story so that my daughter could follow along and be entertained. Some may think it is too cutsey, but I loved how they brought home a spirit of love and doing good and being good. My all time favorite quote is: Have Courage and Be Kind. Truly something that we should all strive for in this day and age.

I have to say that I loved Cate Blanchett in this movie. She was perfect as the step mother and had all the right looks and sly mannerism just like in the cartoon version. She was just about my favorite character to watch. I wish they had done a little more with the mice because I just love them and their sweet hearts that they have toward Cinderella. Gus Gus was fun though. 🙂

I won’t give away too many details because I want you to go and experience this movie for yourself. It was good, lighthearted, beautiful movie with great little mini lessons that we could all take something away. And man do I want those shoes!!
