This is going to probably be a short recap since I should have done it closer to when I ran the race, but like normal..I am late.
The race was downtown Houston where I have run before for the Susan G. Komen 5K. But this time we actually ran in part of downtown beneath the skyscrapers. The race started out great, a little cold and I ran into some old friends right before the race started, but actually ran the race by myself.
I started out a little too fast, but didn’t feel too bad, that is until I realized that I had spent my energy up too quickly. The second half of the race I had to walk a bit more than I wanted and there were a few inclines that were tough. Total time for the 10K was 1:08:16. My tracking said it was slightly longer than just 10K, but hey. Splits: 6:29(not sure if that is accurate), 8:49, 9:48, 11:07, 11:32, 11:26.
Overall, it was a good race. Just kinda glad when it was over. It took a while to get back to my car. The start point and end point were in way different places and the Rodeo Parade was blocking off most of the streets where we had just run.
