Well it is official… Little man started his first day of preschool. He will be going two days a week from 8:30-1. It will be a nice break for momma and sister to spend some time together and for momma to hopefully get some things done around the house that just don’t get done with two kids around. This is the first time he will be in the care of someone other than close family.
We had a classroom visit last Friday that seemed to go really well. Little man went right in and literally played with every toy in the room. He wanted to check everything out. That made me really confident that going in to today would be no problem… Boy was I wrong!!
I actually had to wake him up this morning so that he could eat breakfast and have a little awake time before getting ready for school. While getting changed, he asked where we were going and I told him school. He kept saying no, that he wanted to go to the Christmas Tree. Not sure where that came from. He was fine getting in to the car, but as we got close to school  is when he started to fuss. My parents live about two blocks from the school and he fully knows that. As I pulled in to school, he started crying that he wanted to go to Nonna and Pops house and not school. The crying didn’t get any better as we went inside and waited outside the door to go in. He wouldn’t let me even try to take him in the classroom. Eventually, the teacher picked him up and took him inside. Little miss and I left….
I know he will be fine once he gets inside and gets his day started. I think I would be more emotional about it if I wasn’t fully comfortable with where he was going, but somehow I am relaxed about it all. Yes it tears my heart some that he wasn’t more excited about it this morning. It is a totally new experience for him to go somewhere and not have someone he knows right beside him.
Little miss and I don’t have anything planned to do today since I have been battling a migraine for 3 days now.  So we are just taking it easy and having a quite rest of the morning. I can’t wait to pick little man up and see how his first day went. I hope it wasn’t too traumatic for him and that everything goes much smoother on Thursday.
I made some goodies for the teachers, but of course I forgot to take them this morning. I am sure they will need it after their first day with 16 3-year old’s!!
Here are a few pictures of little man on his first day.. Not very good ones of course, but at least I got something 🙂
