When you have a family you want to have the space for the kids, the kids stuff, and be able to ride in comfort. You shouldn’t have to give up luxury just because you need a larger vehicle. The 2016 GMC Yukon Denali XL is the embodiment of family luxury. It gives you the space you need for a family of 4+ and incorporates the style and luxury features that you may want or crave or that you would get in a smaller vehicle.
When I first set eyes on the 2016 GMC Yukon Denali XL…Well let’s just say my eyes could not be peeled off it! The size is massive. A regular Yukon is a good length and still has tons of space inside, but the XL version gives you that extra amount of cargo space that you so need if you are going to be hauling around a vehicle full of kids and their stuff. Thankfully this one was equipped with backup cameras and sensors because Lord knows it was needed. The Yukon XL is so large that there are plenty of parts that you cannot see around and behind. It was much easier to drive than I expected being that it was so long, but it just teaches you to be ok with parking farther away from the stores or at the soccer field.
Just looking at the outside of this vehicle you can tell that there must be something spectacular on the inside and with the Denali trim package you are guaranteed to have luxury inside and out. Te leather is smooth and inviting and wraps the whole vehicle. Since it is built off the same base structure as the GMC Sierra you can see the main cabin is very similar to the GMC Sierra Denali I drove.
The second row of seats in this one was captain’s chairs which I love because it makes it much easier access to get to the third row. Of course if you need the bench seating they have that option as well for the even larger families. The DVD system was a huge hit with my kids. One screen for the second row and one for the third row. My only problem with the screens is that they are right in the way of the rear view mirror when they are down. This is not ideal when you are driving such a large vehicle. I would rather prefer them to be a part of the seat backs. This would make it better view for the driver as well as passengers as they wouldn’t have to turn their heads to face up to the screen.
The drive and feel of the GMC Yukon Denali XL was smooth and you could tell there was plenty of power under the hood to move such a heavy vehicle. This is the vehicle that I have been waiting to get my hands on for a long time. It was everything I thought it would be and more. The price tag on this Denali version is more than my family could afford at this time, but I would definitely consider the non Denali package version. XL is a must though if you have a larger family and plan on traveling in this vehicle with luggage, etc.
