Mamavation has been an integral part of my weight loss over the last year. If you don’t know what Mamavation is, just know it is an incredibly awesome support group of women/moms that was started by Leah Segedie (@bookieboo). It is a place I can go to get support when I need it or advice about where to go next in getting myself and my family healthier.
This last weekend I was able to finally meet my other Mamavation Sistas in sunny California for Fitcation 2012. We stayed at the fabulous Four Seasons Westlake Village for a time of relaxation, working out and learning. A huge thank you to Dole who sponsored our hotel stay.
Our first day we all met at the hotel to meet and greet as well as have an amazing Greek dinner. And of course, we all had our phones out. After all, we are bloggers π
The next morning was an intense boot camp workout with Steve from OC Fit Body Boot Camp. I only made it about 5 minutes before my migraine made me almost pass out. I have to say I am kinda thankful, because I would have been so majorly sore the next day!! The rest of the girls rocked it though!!
We then toured Dole Headquarters that is right across the street from the Four Seasons. How cool is that. We learned a lot about upcoming products and all that Dole has to offer. We even got to go to their test kitchens and sample some recipes π More information to come about our time at Dole. Thank you to Subway for sponsoring our lunch.
In the afternoon, we were treated to a tour of the California Health and Longevity Institute which is also located at the Four Seasons. I was surprised to find out all the services they offered and the had a kitchen which has been showcased on a weight loss show. They even have their own garden. So beautiful that it inspires you to want to eat healthy.
Later that evening, we were treated to delicious food prepared by Leah’s Mom…. What a treat and to be able to try recipes from Alyssa of InspiredRd was too cool. She is the dietician behind mamavation and a key to helping the mommas lose weight and eat healthy!! She was also my roomie and a delight to get to know her π
Saturday morning was by far my favorite workout. Hoopnotica came to teach us some moves with the hula hoop. It was quite a workout and to have a workout that didn’t hurt my neck was awesome. AND we even got to take home travel hula hoops so we can do the exercises at home.
We spent the rest of the day touring LA with our New Balance Shoes and ended the day at a delicious Morrocan restaurant called Marrakesh. Thanks to Leading Lady Bras for sponsoring our dinner.
Sunday morning Kia of Bodhi Bear showed us some of the best ways to stretch and relax with yoga. She is so calm and peaceful and a delight to be around. After yoga, we packed all of our overwhelming swag(more on that later) and said our good byes.
It was definitely bittersweet to leave all of my mamavation sistas. I have gotten to know them online over the past year, but it was so great to meet them face to face and share this time together. I can’t wait for next year!!
Much love to our big sponsors Dole, Subway, New Balance, SIP the Good Life, Leading Lady Bras, Four Seasons and many more. And to all our swag sponsors(more on them soon). Most of all I want to say thank you to Leah and Mark Segedie for the endless hours of work and money that they put in to make Fitcation such a great time and the escape that us mommies needed π And to Shelly(aka, the Handler) for just being who she is!!
Fitcation was sponsored by Dole, Four Seasons Westlake Village, the California Health and Longevity Institute, Sip the Good Life, New Balance, Subway andLeading Lady Bras. These sponsors provided the attendees with lodging, meals, activities and product during the event. As an attendee, I was asked to give my honest opinion and all opinions are 100% my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of these organizations.
After following all the posts from all the ladies, this makes me want to go next year! I could be the middle age momma photographer!
Xxoo I loved getting to know you dear!
It was wonderful to meet you IRL, April! I hope we all get to do it again soon. <br />
