Kids are back to school and that means football season is starting too. Our family can throw some mean football parties where the food and drinks show that football is awesome. You could call us football party fanatics, but we like to say that we just like to have fun. I want to show you how we put together our perfect party from the decor to the drinks and lets not forget the food.
You can’t really get a party started without first heading to Walmart for all the essentials. Want to save some time so that you can get the most of your game day experience? Order your groceries online so all you have to do is pickup and head back to your house or the parking lot for your tailgating fun. I shopped in store this time because I wanted to find some inspiration for what I was going to serve. Drinks are on point with the football wrapped Dr Pepper® cans. After all it is the official drink of college football fans.
We love to fire up the smoker for our gameday meats and the newest line from Kingsford® with the wood chips incorporated sure saves us a step. Kingsford Charcoal with Applewood is our preferred one, but they also have Hickory, Pecan, Cherrywood, and Mesquite. It is easy to light and brings that great flavor that pairs well with my blueberry hot sauce for the smoked wings that everyone loves. Cool it down with some great tasting Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dressing. I picked up some fruit and veggies, plus some other snack items and we are ready to get this football party fanatics party started!!
Hubs smoker is becoming famous. We smoke everything from ribs to flank steak and wings. I love wings off the smoker and the Kingsford® Charcoal with Applewood gives the right amount of temperature and flavor to the wings. But of course you need a good hot sauce. My Blueberry Hot Sauce is simple, but packs some heat. To make it simply combine:
- 1 pint of blueberries
- 1/2 bottle hot sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
Put all ingredients in a saucepan and boil for 10 minutes. Place ingredients in a blender until smooth, then serve with your favorite meats. It is a simple sauce, but oh man it is good.
Dress up the rest of your football party with a football shaped fruit tray with whipped cream stitching. Add some labels to your water bottles using mailing labels. Pick up some decorations at Walmart while you are there and just go all out with a football themed party. And don’t forget the games. Sip on a refreshing Dr Pepper while playing a little sticky football toss.
Seriously we have so much fun during football season and I love to see how I can incorporate the football theme into every party of our parties and game day rituals. I have simple touches that make it just that much more special as we sit down to watch the game and enjoy spending time with our friends.
What are some of your game day rituals? Have a certain food you eat or shirt you wear? Pick up all your essentials today at Walmart and root for your favorite team!! Down, Set, Hut Hut.
