When you think of going to a gala, you think about men in tuxedos, women in long pretty gowns, and a night unlike any other. Trust me when I say that you don’t want to show up to a gala with an old clunker of a car or your typical soccer mom vehicle. But don’t think that you need to drive down in the most expensive car. You can look gala ready even in a 2017 Toyota Corolla SE 50th Anniversary Special Edition. The Corolla has come a long way since it’s early days of being a compact sedan. It now boasts a more sporty look and grill and in just like right color like Dark Cherry Pearl it can blend in with the other gala ready vehicles.
The 2017 Toyota Corolla SE has gotten quite the makeover in recent years. Toyota is starting to do a more edgy sporty chiseled look to the outside design of its vehicles that will make you reconsider buying a car that is more expensive just to get that sporty look. The Corolla brings style at a much smaller price tag, but bring the reliability and longevity that you expect from a Toyota. I was a little wary when they said this is what I would be driving, but the outside look alone convinced me to give it a second chance.
This smaller car is more suited to smaller families or singles who need a vehicle that gets great gas mileage, but can still seat up to 4 passengers. I was able to average about 31 MPG the whole time I had the car and that was with about an even split of highway mileage and city type driving. Bonus for it being a smaller car I was able to fit into a fairly tight spot in the parking garage that wouldn’t be able to do in my minivan. Score!
Space was a little tight inside as well as in the cargo area. In the trunk I was able to put all of our soccer gear and chairs/wagons, but I couldn’t fit in our tent that we use each weekend. I needed about one more inch of clearance in the opening to be able to squeeze the tent into the trunk. don’t often take our gear out of my van, but would have to with the Corolla in order to do grocery shopping etc.
There are plenty of creature comforts inside the Corolla like leather, nav screen, and more. The engine could have used a little more power behind it for accelerating. Getting onto the freeway I had to push down fairly far to get the car up to speed faster. It is funny though how vehicles can help remind you that maybe you don’t have to rush as much to get places. Less power means learning to take your time and plan your routes.
Yes I do believe that the 2017 Toyota Corolla SE if fairly gala ready. It is a fun vehicle that can zip in and out of tight spaces, and with a more sporty look it is not like the compact sedans of past years that you drive because you just need the fuel efficiency. It is one that you can drive to the gala or everyday to work without having a large gas bill each week.
