My husband and I drink coffee everyday at our house and was happy when I was chosen to sample some Green Mountain Coffee through BzzAgent. Normally we just buy Folgers, because it is less expensive than other brands and has an ok taste to it. I have tried Green Mountain before, but just never bought it on a regular basis. Since I was sent some K-cups, we brought out our Kuerig and went to trying the Green Mountain Fair Trade Select variety.
A little about Green Mountain:
  • Has the largest selection of Fair Trade Certified coffees in the U.S.
  • Has been supporting Fair Trade for over a decade
  • Is the leading brand in K-cup portion packs for Kuerig brewers and is also available in ground and whole bean bags

A little about Fair Trade Certified:
  • Provide a direct link between farmers and Green Mountain Coffee, cutting out the middleman
  • Farmers are paid a guaranteed minimum price for their coffee, and if market prices exceed the minimum, they receive current market price plus a separate payment called a premium
  • Farmers must adhere to a number of environmental standards, like protecting water resources and restricting the use of pesticides and certain chemicals
I really enjoyed the smooth taste and great aroma of the coffee. It didn’t have a bitter taste like some coffees can. I can’t really drink coffee without creamer, so I didn’t experience it’s true flavors, but I could still tell that it was smooth and quality coffee. My Kuerig seems to have some mental issues, so a couple of times the coffee was either watered down or too strong.. One of these days I will get a new one 🙂
Green Mountain can cost more than some other brands, but is really about equal with Seattle’s Best and Starbucks. It is worth the little extra to have a coffee that tastes good and not so bitter, while helping out the farmers that grow it.
I was given some coupons as a part of my sampling and would love to share with some of you. I have seven(7) $1.00 off coupons up for grabs for either the K-cups or bagged coffee. Giveaway ends 11/10/11 at Noon CST.
