Keep Your Family Safe from the Flu

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for MedImmune Specialty Care. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

It is cold and rainy here in Texas. This time of year, I try to do all I can to keep my kids healthy. It is a hard job with them being at school and germs are EVERYWHERE!! Thankfully they have both only had colds, but I still worry that they may get the flu.

-We wash our hands all the time. Before we eat, after we eat, when we come in from playing to help keep those germies at bay.
-Other ways to help keep the germs away are making sure your kids aren’t sharing cups and food. This is a big one!! I used to work at daycares and kids stole other kids cups all the time!!
-I am also trying to teach my kids to use tissues more when their noses are running and to make sure they aren’t coughing in other peoples faces.
-Another way I try to keep my kids healthy is by feeding them foods that are good for their bodies and help them naturally protect themselves. If your child is eating crummy foods, then they are much more likely to get sick. My kids get a vitamin each morning and foods and drinks that help them be strong. No we aren’t perfect by any means on what my kids eat, but I do what I can.

Elizabeth Pantley has an ebook out all about the flu and the flu vaccine. It was interesting to read about various facts about flu and the vaccine. I was shocked at how much getting the flu can really cost you(not just money wise) and if you already have a lower immune system then it could potentially be very expensive. It was nice to see that I was already doing a lot of the tips with my kids to help keep them as healthy as possible. No we can’t totally prevent our kids from being sick, but we should try to take every step possible that we can to keep our kids from being sick.

What are you doing to keep your family safe and healthy during this cold and flu season? Have your kids already had the flu this year?
