Kroger “Refresh” – $25 Challenge

Grocery prices seem to ever be on the rise. Each time I go to the grocery store I worry how much I am going to spend this time on things that I have to buy each week. It would be nice if prices went the lower instead of higher!!

Kroger is trying to do just that, lower prices. This summer they kicked off their Refresh program in the Houston area. What does this mean? They have invested multi-milllions in order to reduce their prices in many departments including natural, organic, fruits, veggies, as well as their own store label brands.

When you head to your nearest Kroger, you will see tags with “New Lower Price” throughout the store. On top of the weekly sale prices that Kroger runs each week and all the great coupons that you can get online to add directly to your card, there are now lower prices on top of the sale prices.

See that tag! $1.21 savings and you don’t have to clip any coupons. Instant savings!

I was given a challenge to see how far I could stretch $25 with the new lower prices at Kroger. Before I left for the store, I checked my mobile Kroger app and added some coupons for items that I needed directly to my card. I try cutting coupons, but 99.99% of the time I leave them at home.

It is not hard to find more deals like this one. Buy 5 participating items and you get an automatic $1 off each item.

For someone who is not good at clipping coupons, being able to save money just by shopping for items I already need like Cascade or popcorn it is win in my book. Add in earning points for every purchase that you can use for gas rewards means lots of savings back in my bank account.

As you can see by my receipt, there are savings deducted on almost every line!

I saved just over $13 without taking in any coupons into the store. I did have one that I took in and one that automatically came off just by using my Kroger card. To save $1 on avocados, $1 on lunch meat, and $1.21 each on popcorn. All foods that my family eats and buys almost every shopping trip. I sure liked getting the savings with minimal effort!!!
What is the most you have ever saved on a grocery trip without clipping coupons or spending hours figuring out all the deals? Kroger can help save your time and money with their weekly ads, Summer Savings, ECoupons, Fuel Rewards and more! I think I made the $25 stretch pretty far, just imagine if I had taken in printed coupons as well….

I was given a gift card in order to facilitate this challenge from Kroger. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
