Did you Resolve to greet 2015 with a modern new home?
Gold fixtures and wall paper are in. Matching wood furniture is out. Find out what other trends are in store and get inspired to modernize your home by attending the 2nd Annual Lake Conroe Home and Garden Show slated for February 14-15 at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe, Texas. For those eager to get a head start on any home and garden expansion no matter the size, make plans to visit with the more than 200 experts in everything from organic gardening to interior design to custom outdoor spaces.
“The new year always marks the time when we want to update our homes,” remarked Robyn Cade, President of RJC Productions and organizer of the Lake Conroe Home and Garden Show. “This is the time of the year when we get energized to de-clutter and renew.” In fact, research shows that a cluttered space is depressing, an added benefit of knocking that resolution to get organized off the list.
With home sales in the area still brisk, this might be the best time to consider remodeling or modernizing it. “Research shows that investing in your home pays for itself in the long haul, particularly with kitchen and bathroom remodels,” emphasized Cade. “We’re especially excited about the range of exhibitors, demonstrations and experts who’ll be part of our second show. It’s a great way to get lots of ideas and estimates all in one place,” Cade added.
Leslie Sarmiento, the principal designer with Decorating Den Interiors will be on hand to offer tips about updating a home’s interior including how to use the recently released new color of the year. “This is an exciting time in the home furnishings industry,” remarked Sarmiento. “It is all about the fusion of styles to create a look that is truly custom and unique. We are mixing modern and traditional, rustic and sleek, European and Asian, you name it. Geometric patterns are still very popular, but trending towards mixing them with classic traditional patterns. You will see this in fabric, wallpaper and rug combinations, and also in furniture design. As for the color of the year, Marsala is considered a very rich, luxurious neutral that is actually easy to work with. Paired with jewel tones, it creates a very striking, dramatic statement. With a more muted palette, it provides a warm, contrasting backdrop.”
