I attended a free blogger night at Painting with a Twist, The Woodlands Tx. All thoughts in this post are my own. I am beyond the first to admit that I am not artistic. I never really have been. I have horrible handwriting, my hand hurts when I hold small objects, and I just don’t really have the patience for it most days. I guess that is why my baking business is known more for taste than always looks 🙂 But I am fine with that. But there might just be a place that changes my thoughts on it all especially when it means a night of girl talk and WINE!! Mommy night out!! Painting with a Twist started with two ladies in Louisiana who were looking for a business venture. A way to get ladies out of the house, doing something new, and having a good time while they created a piece of art for their home or office. Now don’t get me wrong, men can surely join in too. We were invited out to their Spring/The Woodlands, Tx location to paint none other than the Texas state flower, bluebonnet, on a sunset landscape. I thought ok, I can do this.. Fairly abstract, loose interpretation, let’s get started. What is great is that you don’t bring anything but yourself. They supply the canvas, paints and instructor. You get to bring your own food and drink in.
I enjoyed learning the technique behind doing a painting and of course being able to talk with friends and have a mommy night out. My painting was not exactly what I wanted it to be. I am not the best at interpretation and free form type stuff. I am more of a straight line person. I do want to go back and try some of the other paintings.
You can see my progress. Not bad..Maybe a bit much..Should have stopped there… What are those white things?? Haha
We could all use time to let our creative juices flow as well as time to spend with friends escaping the digital world. So go see if there is a Painting with a Twist near you. If there isn’t would you possibly think of starting your own franchise?
