Don't buy only one type of cloth diaper before trying cloth diapers out. You don't want to make a huge investment on something that will not work for you.
Try many different brands and styles! Do not settle on just one!
Rinse your diapers (esp. the night-time ones) before you put them in the wetbag. Really reduces ammonia stink if you have an HE Washer.
always have more then one on hand also for the moms that dont use cloth diapers being a mom of 8 have cloth diapers on hand just in case you run low on non cloth ones is a works realy grate.
Try lots of brands and styles before you decide on buying a ton of one kind!
Try more than one kind of cloth diaper before committing to a stash of diapers
Wash in cold water! Yes that's right COLD! Hot water isn't needed as it has to be boiling hot in order to disinfect. The dryer or sun will do that job. Save your money. (although you do probably need an all-temperature laundry detergent to wash in cold)
Try different styles and brands to see what you like and what works best for you/baby!

huntermb3 at gmail dot com

I don't really have one since it was years ago when I used cloth diapers and they certainly have improved now. My nephew and his wife are planning to use cloth when their baby is born so I'm glad you asked for tips so I can read and share with him. Thanks!
sandy1955@comcast.net

Sandy VanHoey
I don't have any yet, I'm new to all this!
Don't listen to people telling you that you "can't" do it! It is easier than you think!
Buy Lots of em…
Danielle Patrick
My best tip is to find the right detergent… your life will be easier in the end… also fleece liners make poopy diapers easier π
Try many brands! Also if you are new to cloth diapering try covers with inserts or prefolds ! They are wonderful for our heavy wetter!
Do what works for you!
Use a snappi with prefolds to keep the poo from going on the cover.
just do it. It isn't as hard as you think

Brooke Schwaderer
Don't buy all of one kind because you might like different kinds and some may work better with your baby!

(Michelle Ferguson)
If one kind isn't working try something else. There are so many kinds out there and there's something for everyone. Don't give up.
Practice makes perfect!
I just started cding so I am the one needing tips!
sun your diapers to get rid of stains.
just to stick it out, no matter what other people say about cloth. Oh and sunning helps with stains.
entered as blue racer
Don;t let anyone tell u, You won't last or won't have the time.
stick with it. try different brands until you find what works for you before giving up
have enough fluff to last a couple days, especially when you have TWO in diapers!!! I so wish I had more fluff!
Make sure that you try a whole bunch of different kinds!
Line dry, line dry, line dry! Diapers need sunshine!
Use soap nuts. It gets stains and smells out better than any detergent I've tried.

Use cloth wipes too, it just makes sense and it's very easy/saves money π
rinse right away dont put off washing them

Never used them myself so… ?
Makr sure you have a diaper pail.
buy a good mix of diapers to see what fits baby and keep it easy, don't over complicate things
Don't use harsh detergents or softeners, and make sure you invest in the good diapers and covers… the quality will pay for itself many times over!
Dont buy the cheap ones on e-bay. They just dont work that well!
Don't start out with all one brand/kind. Try a few to see what works best for you and your LO.
I haven't started cloth diapering yet, so I haven't got any tips. But I love reading everyone else's!
Try a couple different detergents….some work better than others with different water types!
Spray out the solid stuff! We did this from the start and have not had any sort of issues with staining or smell : )
Look for pre-owned diapers on craigslist – it's a cheap way of trying different brands when you're starting out and haven't found your "one" yet!
Quick rinse in the sink before tossing in the wet bag. We've never had ammonia issues, EVER!
Best cloth diaper tip: it can save you lots of money, so just give it a try! I love using hemp at night!
Make sure you wash them well!
Use coconut oil on your baby's bum!
Stripping them every month or so!
Try different styles to see what works best for you and your baby
have plenty on hand
Make sure to talk to friends and get their opinions before spending too much. Yes they are better for the environment, but it's a lot of work!
Try different ones, some are better than others.
seyma_bennett@hotmail.com
My tip is to try and get as many of your diapers, liners, cover, etc in natural materials as possible. Organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, etc. Microfiber can get stinky and can be irritating to babies bottoms. bekki1820cb at gmail dot com
Yes! Buy many different brands of diaper! Every one I've tried has been different and it's helped me learn what I like and don't like. Plus certain ones work better for certain things. And every diaper fits differently.
Research before you dive in. I wish I'd read more about the dif styles and cd care.
Diapers don't fit all babies the same. Consider your baby's shape and build (length, tummy, and legs) and look for which diapers fit on babies with a similar shape.

Jodi J
Don't over complicate things. Washing doesn't have to be rocket science. If it isn't broken don't try to fix it.
What is your best cloth diapering tip?

im a guy..my tip is run…
My best tip is stay clear of the cheapy Chinese pocket diapers on eBay. The PUL fails easily.
Definitely use cloth wipes!! So much easier than having two separate things for changing diapers
beth.rees333 at gmail dot com
Don't get hug up on wash routines. It's trial and error.

-Justice Montgomery
reseach the diapers before you buy any and look at the reviews posted by other parents who have tried them

You have to find your own routine and rhythm!
Don't wait until the last minute to wash!
Don't talk yourself out of trying it before even looking into it. A lot of people I've met have already built up a huge disposable stash and seen my cloth diapers, then realized how great they are.
try different ones!
Try cloth diapering! You might like it!
my only tip is to try it! we're due in november. scg00387 at yahoo dot com
stick with it til you find what works best for you
Buy a good washer!
If you spend a little bit more now, you'll save in the long run. Don't go for what is necessarily cheapest because they'll deteriorate and you'll have to replace them before your kiddo is potty trained.. spend a little more on a better quality diaper and you'll end up paying less in the long run.
Do your research and don't put all your eggs in one basket!
Build a stash that you love!
Sun them to get stains out
I've never used them before but I really want to start!
nikki bergin
crazycat09@ymail.com
I would advice a cloth diaper trial to try different diapers and figure out what works best for your baby's shape and size.
every baby is different, what works for one might not work for the next. One kind worked for my older daughter but not my yonger diaper. I suggest getting a few different kinds used so your not out a bunch of money on the ones that didn't work.
Buy different types of diapers, you never know what will work with your baby!
Try out different brands to find out which you like the best and what works best for you.
If you need to start with a few and slowly build up your stash, it's okay! Disposables aren't evil, and every change into cloth helps save you money. π
Just do it! Try all kinds before stocking up on one type!

-Charlene H.
Don't give up! Keep trying till you find the right one!
Set your washer for a larger load than you have in it to make sure they rinse well!
Try lots of different things until you find what works for YOU
Rinse out diapers as soon as you change them. It really helps keep the diapers for getting any odor build up .
Try different kinds/brands. Don't stick to one.
My best tip is to find a good detergent that works with your water and stick with it
Find a detergent that you like and works for you. AND of course dry on the clothesline.
tnrinaatgmaildotcom
You may not always LOVE the first brand you try… If you dont, dont give up… Try to trade them or start over!
Rotate your stash so that you use all the diapers fairly equally instead of just your favorites over and over again. It will save wear and tear over the long run. Also if you are very new to CD don't be intimidated by it. There are tons of friendly people who will help answer all your "dumb questions" and have asked them their selves before. – Andrea Edwards
Definitely spray them down!
Start with a good detergent adn wash routine
I've heard sprayers are essential!
Check out lower cost/lesser known brands and websites like Assuntastore.com and DiaperPalz.com. I got my stash started for under $90, and 5 months later it's still working great!
I think everyone has the same tip as I do, but my best tip is to try many different diapers. Buy one of each type and/or brand until you find out what works best for you and your baby and understand that it may even change over time as your baby grows. Don't get frustrated and think they don't work. They do! You just have to find the best system for you.
I would agree to try many different kinds and to also use cloth wipes.
Try it!
dont buy all of one kind of diaper!
Take care of your diapers!!!! They are an investment. Use proper cloth safe laundry soap. Don't use bleach, don't use fabric softeners. Line dry your covers as much as possible. π
Some websites offer cloth diaper trial packages. So for a refundable deposit, you can try diapers for around $10- and find what works for you, before paying the whole investment. This is a really good deal for newborn diapers too!

Kari
www.mommytoelodie.tumblr.com
My best advice? Don't be afraid to try cloth diapers! Just stick one on that cute little butt and see what happens! What have you got to lose?
Best advice…don't get overwhelmed! Enjoy the information available…don't get overwhelmed by it…find a site you enjoy, and visit it often. Visit a local store to see the styles they offer and decide which would be best for you.

Oh..and affordable diapers don't mean your getting less of a quality product!
Do a small rinse cycle before doing a regular soap cycle…it really helps get rid of the smell and gets all the yucky stuff off so the soap will have a chance to actually get to the cloth!
Best advice is KISS – Keep It Simple Snapper, as Tara from Padded Tush Stats would say. Keep your laundry routine simple, find a diapering system that you find easy and practical, and don't allow yourself to get overwhelmed by all the CD stuff out there. π
use different laundry soaps… My daughter after a while got allergic to the one brand… because your ph balance differs a lot
do lots of product research and be prepared before your child is born

Try different types to see what you like before buying one specific type or brand.
Test out a few different types of diapers that you think might be your favorite before investing in a whole stash of one type of diaper. Also, use cloth wipes- they really are easy to use and it's so nice to wash them with your cloth diapers!
When washing, use what seems like a tiny bit of detergent, and rinse, rinse, rinse!
vinger is a great water softener i use it all the time and it leaves my diapers beautiful
A little Funk Rock every now and then is AWESOME! π
Find a routine that works for you and your machine, water, soap, etc. One routine will not work for all.
Use natural fibers to cut down on odor and leaking!
Change more often than you would a disposable–these are good for a couple hours only!
Sun to get rid of stains.
my best tip is to always use vinegar and baking soda in with your laundry soap when cleaning

christinejessamine at hotmail dot com

Get a diaper sprayer!
I have never used cloth diapers.
Try different brands since every diaper fits babies differently
do your research and dont let others talk you out of it

Try different styles. Just because one diaper doesn't work for you doesn't mean another won't.
