My New Morning Routine

Since school is now in full effect this week, I am now starting new routines for myself. I have never been big on breakfast. Don’t get me wrong I love breakfast foods, but rarely do I eat them at breakfast time. I am not usually awake enough to want to cook early in the morning. So I have started a new routine again of smoothies. I have discovered a new protein addition that works for me ever adding food allergies. So what is my secret? Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides.

Quick Overview:

Collagen peptides are short chain amino acids naturally derived from pasture-raised collagen protein. Unlike gelatin, these peptides are soluble in cold liquids as well as hot. Collagen peptides contain the same amino acids as gelatin which are identical to the protein found in skin, nails, hair, bones, cartilage, and joints. Gluten Free, rBGH Free, Non GMO.

When I visited the Vital Proteins booth at BlogHer I was a happy girl because I have been meaning to try out this new product and add it in to my diet and training program for the Houston Marathon. I can’t use most protein powders due to the sugar content. I have experimented with other collagen/gelatin products but I hated how they did not blend in well to my cold smoothies. The Vital Proteins is cold water soluble. In New York they had a water station set up where they infused water with watermelon and mint and the collagen peptides. This is a game changer for me when I have a race. I could carry my own infused protein water with me and not have to rely on gels or anything else that I may be allergic to.
So now that you know my secret, I want to share with you one of my favorite smoothies that I make almost every morning.
Cherry Protein Smoothie

My favorite protein smoothie recipe with Vital Proteins.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsweet almond milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup frozen cherries
  • handful fresh spinach
  • 2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
  • 1-2 pitted dates
  • 1 small banana
Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender and mix until super smooth. So easy and so healthy!
