Week 5
5 weeks down and still doing a pretty good job of staying with the routine.  The main difficulty I seem to have is controlling my portions when I’m out and not at home.  There are just certain times that I can’t bust out a Nutrisystem meal.  But no matter what I eat, I seem to find a way to monitor and keep within “the plan”.
This past week was a big milestone for me, I didn’t drink anything but water.  No sodas, no wine, no anything but good old fashioned water and my ONE cup of morning coffee.  Not surprisingly, I’ve been feeling better this past week than any other.  I do miss the soda, sometimes, but I realize that this is a total lifestyle change, and the soda has to go.  With the desserts that are offered, I never find myself wanting any extra sugar.  I actually ate 2 grapefruits this week without sprinkling a little extra sugar on top.  Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but I’d never done that before!

I’m only down 1 pound the last week, to 235 pounds.  I knew the day was coming when it wouldn’t come off as fast.  No worries though, as long as I keep going down, I’m good.  1 pound a week won’t get me to my goal as fast as I want, but it’s not a set back because it’s a loss, not a gain.  As a former athlete, hitting that wall means changing things up, so I’ve changed my exercise to include bicycling as my newest alternative.  Give me a couple more weeks of losing a few pounds and I’ll be ready to get back into lifting a few weights!

I do have a new favorite food, the Chicken and Dumplings!  Reminds me of when I was a kid, but not as salty or as many calories.  I’m looking forward to placing my order for the next month so that I can try a few of the meals I haven’t had yet.  The chicken with cacciatore sauce is also very good, and I could eat the carrot cake everyday, but I do switch it up.  Until next week, keep eating and excercising!
