Week 7
The time sure seems to fly lately.  As a family we have a lot going on lately, but I’m still hanging in there with the weight loss!  Last weigh in, down to 231.8!  That’s a total of 14.8 pounds, and I couldn’t be happier.  It’s almost time to get rid of the “Fat Clothes”.  You know what I’m talking about, the jeans and shirts you keep in your closet for when you gain weight.  This time, though, I mean get rid of, as in donate, give them to someone needy, because I won’t need them anymore.  I really can’t see how I will put the weight back on.  Seriously, I feel too good, and I don’t miss some of the bad habits I thought I would.
I’ve come to realize that quality of life and one’s diet go hand in hand.  I’ve definitely had more energy, and I’ve spent more time out and about with the kids the last month.  We’ve gone to the park, gone swimming, and they’ve accompanied me on walks.  Quality time, quality exercise, all with the added benefit of losing weight in the process.  The best positive for me has been the reduction in my stress level.  Buying a new home, moving, and a big family vacation coming up can all typically add to one’s stress level.  Eating right and getting off your backside and staying active really does help to minimize those effects.
I recently went out and played a round of golf.  It had been a while since the last time I’d played, but I noticed a definite improvement in my game.  I wasn’t quite as tired by the end of the round, and having a little less belly helped to keep me a little more balanced in my swing.  Sounds like a minor detail, but it helped make the game a little more fun, and I shot my best score in like 5 years!  Oh, and I burned up a lot of calories while doing it.  Downside?  Can’t think of one.
One more week to go before the family vacation gets under way.  I’ve been thinking hard about how to stay good with all the family and food around.  I’m still going to do my Nutriystem breakfast, lunch and desserts.  Dinner will be a little more difficult, but it just comes down to not gorging on whatever is being served.  I can do it, and hopefully with a 5 day beach vacation, can burn a bunch of calories swimming around in the ocean and the pool with the little ones.  I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
