Little Man started preschool last year and this year Little Miss joined him. It is just preschool, but they still need to have some of the things that every kids needs to go back to school. We bought backpacks, new lunch boxes, shoes, socks and a few new clothes. Just that little amount of stuff cost us $100 and that was with me finding things on clearance.

I can only imagine how much we are going to be spending when they go to regular school where they have to actually buy supplies and many more clothes. Mommy will definitely have to get better at budgeting!!!
There are so many people out there that I know couldn’t even afford what little we did buy for our kids to go to preschool. My husband works hard and I have several jobs just to get what we have, but despite how hard people work there are just times when you can’t afford things.

Gutzy Gear teamed up with bloggers and gave us the chance to pay it forward to a child whose parents can’t afford all the school supplies and backpacks like other kids. We were given $25 and a challenge to see how much we could buy.
I am not a deal blogger by any means, so I went to the stores a little wary that I would come away with much. I decided to get my backpack at Toys R Us since they had a deal where you buy a backpack and get a lunchbox free. Thankfully the morning I went out, I also received a $5 coupon to use. So I wound up only paying $8.99 for a backpack and lunchbox!! Off to a decent start..
I then went to Walmart and decided to get the school supplies there. Although I wasn’t able to get tons of supplies, I got a decent amount. At least it would be better than nothing at all 🙂

Some of the employees where my husband works come from lower income areas so I thought that would be the best place to send the backpack and supplies. The girl he gave it to was very thankful and wound up sharing some of the supplies with a friend since her son already had a backpack. Gutzy Gear even sent the kiddos their very own Gutzy starter packs. I know my son loves the ones he has on his backpack!
I was so happy to be a part of this event thanks to Gutzy Gear and Madame Deals Media. I just wish I had been able to do more and help more kids out. I think this will be a new tradition in our house!! Our family has been blessed and I want to be able to teach my kids to pay it forward 🙂
