I love to see my kids create new things and watch their imaginations grow as they take blocks and other items and stack them. They create towers and castles and dogs.. Yes even dogs. We got a set of Pinblocks to review and immediately my kids imaginations started to bloom. The beauty of Pinblocks is that you can configure them in a way that they can be made into round objects like a watch.
The set we got came with 1000 pieces that were clear, gold, white, grey and black. They have other sets that have a variety of colors. There is a picture of a watch on the box so my son started trying to figure out how to make it. I will say that it was tricky and changes your way of building things with the Pinblocks. We eventually figured out how to make just a bracelet. The 3D creations are a little advanced for my kids, but I have a feeling they will eventually figure it out.
I love the idea of even the flat pictures that could be made with the Pinblocks. On their website they do have a couple of tutorials with downloadable PDF files. I think we may have to take a rainy weekend day to make one of them. The large box retails for around $50 which is not too bad considering how many pieces you get in that size box. I can see this as a good Christmas present for those kids who like LEGO or other artistic self guided toys.
