There are so many life stages that we all go through, from baby to child, to eventually mother and more. There comes a time when you as may actual reverse roles with your own parents and become their caregivers either from age or illness. There are things that you will need in your home so that you can become a caregiver. Prepping your home to be a caregiver is almost like prepping for a baby in a way. There are certain needs that will need to be met like food, clothing, bedding, mobility pieces, and more. I bet you didn’t know that most items that you will need can be found at Sam’s Club either in store or online.

Prepping Your Home to be a Caregiver

Prepping the Room:

Of course a bed is needed so that the person you are caring for has a proper height bed for ease in and out as well as bedding. A side table is a good idea so that glasses, medications, or other items can be easily reached in the middle of the night. Make sure that there are no carpets or rugs to trip over ass the person you may have to care for could have to use a walker.

Prepping the Bathroom:

The bathroom can be a dangerous place for any age person really, but can be even more so for an elderly person that could slip easily and could be too weak to stand in a shower for long. I highly recommend getting a shower seat and a handheld shower head. Installing bars in the shower and along one wall of the bathroom is also a good idea to help provide stability. At some point there may be a need for disposable briefs and those can also be purchased at Sam’s Club.

Prepping the Pantry:

As the days go by and you are caring for an ailing loved one, nutrition will be even more important, but they may not want solid food. Sam’s Club carries a 24 pack of Ensure Original Nutrition Shake that is a great way to get in needed vitamins and protein that every body needs. Buying in bulk means less time that you are away from your loved one. Did you know that you can even order online from Sam’s Club and either have it shipped to your house or pick-up curbside? This way you can get all the supplies that you will need for prepping your home to be a caregiver all without leaving the house.

Want to skip lines at Sam’s Club, then download their Scan & Go app so that you can scan your items as you put them in your cart, pay right from your phone, and then head straight to the door to get a final scan and check from the attendant at the door. They scan your phone receipt, check your cart, and you can quickly get on your way.

Prepping the Rest of the House:

As you prep your house for care giving, take a look around and see what creature comforts you might need to get. An electric lifting chair would be a good option as they might have trouble getting up.

Caring for an elderly friend or family member can be a daunting task. Sam’s Club can help you each step of the way with products in store like Ensure drinks or online where they offer a wide variety of products for every age level from baby to the elderly. The Caregiver program at Sam’s Club is here to offer support to those who care for their patients or loved ones every day. Kimberly-Clark and Abbott Nutrition are partnering together to shed light on the benefits Sam’s Club offers to provide a sense of relief to the unsung heroes assuming care for their patients, friends, and family members.
