No I didn’t really go racing in the 2016 Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover. Though that may have been fun. What I did do was take the Mazda CX-3 to one of my running races the Cypress Half Marathon. I will start by saying that I am normally so good at hearing my alarm go off, but this morning I didn’t wake up on time. My alarm on my phone was set to silent… Oops…See this race started at 6:45 am which is early even for my taste. It was also almost an hour away… Geez what was I thinking?
Thankfully my hubs woke me in just enough time to get dressed and haul it to the race. I made it just in time to park, gather my things, and head to the start line. Thankfully I had my SIL meeting me there to run the race together. It wasn’t the best race since I haven’t been training very well, but at least I had someone to have conversation with while we walked most of it. Ah well, maybe one day I will get faster.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 was a welcome sight after 13.1 long miles. I love the sporty look of this vehicle. It is sleek and stylish with the Ceramic Metallic exterior color. This one was more of a hatchback style. The “trunk” storage space was a little small for my liking, but did fit our groceries for the week. We had a soccer game as well that weekend and our gear and wagon just barely fit in the back. Thankfully I have a wagon that folds up so that we could still take it with us.
The interior look and feel was sporty just like the outside. I do have a couple of complaints about size. I was unable to put my kids full carseats in the back because there just wasn’t enough room. We used their bottom boosters so they were able to fit, but with very little legroom. When my husband had to get in the front seat, that left my son and husband squished. The center console while unique in its layout, was a little awkward. You could either have the armrest down and not be able to reach drinks or have drinks in the cupholders and no armrest. It was actually quite hilarious when I was getting balloons for my daughter’s birthday and 7 balloons FILLED the vehicle. One time when I was very grateful for a backup camera since I couldn’t see out the rearview mirror!
I was happy with the handling of this vehicle. Since it is basically the size of a smaller car, it maneuvered in and out of traffic easily. I just wish it had a beefier engine to go along with the sporty look that it boasts. I love the look that Mazda is going with most of its vehicles. So fun. Will you go racing in the 2016 Mazda CX-3?
