I was invited out last week to preview the new Spongebob Subpants Adventure at the Moody Gardens in Galveston, Tx. But first I have to tell you about the rooms at Moody Gardens.
When you walk in you are greeted with gorgeous beachy colors of seafoam green, whites, and neutrals on the bed linens, walls and decorations. Even though Moody Gardens isn’t directly on the beach it makes you feel like it is right outside your window. I mean look how gorgeous this room is. It just invites you in to rest and relax. Pair that with views of the pool and the Moody Gardens Pyramids and you have a winning combo. Truly I did not want to leave the room, but I was happy to go out with my friend Lori from A Day in Motherhood for some dinner and time with her girls. Man they are cute!
If you are looking for a great family place to go to eat in Galveston that has typical American food and the price point is great, then I highly suggest The Spot. Their burgers are pretty good and they will even do a lettuce wrap if you can’t have gluten like me.
Back to Spongebob 🙂 As you walk in to the exhibit, you are greeted by what looks like you are walking down in to Bikini Bottom just like on the show. The first room that you enter has various tanks with jellyfish(my personal favorite) and other sea creatures. There is also a fun periscope that the kids can look through to see Spongebob.
Then you enter the theater where you will be taken on an interactive tour of Bikini Bottom with your captain Patrick Star. It is a 3D movie which makes it just that more real feeling. There are times where the chairs buzz and there are points where you get lightly sprayed with water so just keep that in mind for littles that may not enjoy that part of the experience. Each time you go it can be slightly different depending upon which way your “Captain” decides to take the ride.
I went without my kids and actually really enjoyed it so don’t think that it is only for kids. If you want to experience Spongbob SubPants or any of Moody Gardens then I highly suggest you get a full day pass that will get you in the all the exhibits and experiences.
