This is a sponsored post on behalf of Foresters Tech Timeout Challenge. Do you think you and your family could take a tech timeout for one hour each day to do something with each other and create new family together habits.
The holidays are a perfect time to reconnect with family and friends. I know that on a regular day we can get so caught up in what is on Facebook or what movie or show that we “have to watch” or tablets for the kids to get immersed in playing games. But what if we took an hour of our day(not including dinner time) to take a tech timeout and do something with our family without the distraction on all thing tech??!! Man what a novel idea.
I had already been thinking about this off and on this past year and that is why we went with getting the kids more experiences than things, but also starting up our board game selection. We have gotten one or two each year since the kids were small, but we upped it this year and got quite a few new games from “Santa” and a few more from family.
If you haven’t heard of the Mexican Train Game, you so need to go get it. We started playing it at my in laws house and even my 6 yr old son loves it. You can play it for hours on end and it can be used for several different games, but the classic train game is so easy but fun!! We now have one to play at our house and the kids are loving just sitting at our table and seeing who will win 🙂
This has been an easy transition for us to turn off the tv and devices get back to spending quality time as a family without mindless hours on end in front of tech. I will say that I forgot how fun board games can be until you get back to playing them with your own kids and family. I am curious to see if we can keep up with this family time as we get back in to school craziness and just regular life in general.
It will help that we have the games and other activities that can help us reconnect as a family, take the tech timeout and get back to a more connected family life.
Will you take the Foresters Tech Timeout Challenge?
