Ever since I had my daughter about 3 1/2 years ago, I noticed some changes in my body and wasn’t quite sure what was going on with me. Chronic pain, fatigue and lots of other symptoms that I just couldn’t explain. After lots and lots of research I had what I believe to be chronic fibromyalgia, a mystery illness that mimics so many other things. It is hard to be a mom and be in that much pain. I did what I could to put on a happy face, when most of the time I was in such horrible pain!!
The reasons why I get up each day!

When I realized that my pain was not going away, I researched the internet like crazy to find out what was going on with me. The house we were living in at the time was making me sick. I had to take allergy medicine everyday and hated it. I also started having major jaw pain, headaches and just being in a fog. I went to the dentist to find out the cause of my jaw pain. After getting my wisdom teeth removed and getting lots of cavities fixed, I was still having the jaw pain.

So I started researching more and everything I read online about chronic fibromyalgia was me to a T. A Big Huge Capital T!! One place I learned a lot from was Lifescript.com. They have a whole section dedicated to Fibromyalgia and that is how I learned what the mystery illness was, ways to treat it, and lots of ways to help manage it.

Chronic Fibromyalgia is not an easy thing to diagnose. There is not one test that you can take that will specifically say, Oh you have Fibromyalgia. Instead you have to take lots of tests to rule out other illnesses, and what you are left with is Fibro.

Through more research and trial and error, I have found that diet and exercise are a huge factor in how I feel and how I control the pain. When I eat a clean food diet that is heavy in fruits and veggies with just a little meat and very little carbs, I feel tons better and the pain is manageable. Running has also become my saving grace. It is the one exercise that I can see how much it helps me without making me hurt in other ways. It gives me strength I need to get through the day and also help my body get rid of the toxins.
My very first half marathon this year. Running despite the pain! Ready to tackle more races 🙂

Unfortunately there is no cure for Chronic Fibromyalgia, there is only managing the symptoms. It would be wonderful if there was a cure(maybe one day), but until then I can use websites like Lifescript’s Fibromyalgia Health Center.
