I am so excited to say that I have been working out for three full weeks now. It is actually starting to become a habit and I want to get on the treadmill everyday. I haven’t seen much change as far as weight wise yet, but have noticed a little change in muscle starting to peek out. One thing that has changed is I am starting to have more energy. I don’t want to just sit around all day. I actually have the desire to get up and get things accomplished. The walking/running really helps relieve some of the pain and tension that I have in my neck and shoulders. I almost want to get on the treadmill just so I can have that relief from the pain. The pain does come back everyday because I think I really do need a new bed and pillows that support me better.
I have had chronic pain in my jaw, neck, shoulders and back for quite some time now. Within the past year the pain has gotten a lot worse. A little while back, I finally decided to go to the doctor and dentist because the pain had gotten so bad. My doctor just gave me muscle relaxers, which didn’t really help at all and almost made everything worse. I did go to physical therapy to help out, but we just couldn’t afford for me to keep going at $45 a visit. I then went to the dentist(since I hadn’t been since I was a kid….) and she gave me a mouthpiece to keep my teeth apart so that I wasn’t clenching them together at night. I also finally got my wisdom teeth out. Between all of those things, the pain finally started to go away and was better for awhile. The last 3-4 weeks though, the pain has been back almost as bad as it was before and Tylenol and Icy Hot just aren’t cutting it anymore.
Since I started working out, it has helped to relieve a lot of my pain during the day, but it seems to keep coming back everyday….. Our mattress is a few years old and I have trouble finding a pillow that supports enough, but is also soft. I also really need to get back to the dentist and get my teeth worked on some more. Between those factors and being overly stressed, I have a feeling that is what is causing the pain each day. And yes, I should probably get a complete check up to see what other factors may be a culprit.
Sorry for that rant of all my issues…. But I fully intend to keep working out. I am loving the new energy that has come along. In turn, I am hoping that I start losing some of the “I have had two kids” weight. I am still looking for a workout video to change up being on the treadmill everyday. I want something that the kids would have fun doing too. I am liking the idea of Zumba or some other “dance” type workout that won’t put a lot of stress on my neck and shoulders.
I can definitely use support and encouragement to keep this up. And any suggestions on things to do and foods to eat to help this weight loss process along would be more than appreciated 🙂
Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!!
